    UD for Pacheco

40-35 x2, and couldn't make out the last scorecard...

Pacheco's lone defeat was a 2nd round corner retirement against powerful Venezuelan southpaw Ivan "El Demoledor" Matute.

He improves now to 4-1-1 (0)...yet to register a stoppage.

Two zip Vega (whom BoxRec list as orthodox, but he so far has fought exclusively southpaw)

Oh man... kind of had a feeling that might happen. Smith drops Vega early in round three with a 3-2 as Vega is whipping in his rapid counter right hooks, leaving a bit of a gap between them while reeling in his arm to wing it out again, keeping his left down the whole time. Amateurish mistake, finally paid for it. Vega still hasn't learned his lesson, whipping right hooks on the backfoot (and sometimes plugging a quick straight left into the gut) the rest of the round as Smith pursues but fails to bottle lightning twice with the 1-2.

    10-8 Smith

    28-28

This is "El Gallo" Vega's sophomore effort; Smith's pro debut.

El Gallo starts to actually box well in the fourth, not just playing cutesy games with the flashy right hook and subsequent daredevil leans inside while reloading. Vega now using an incisive right jab and holding up the left hand at least within 4" of his chin to maneuver it out in front defensively if need be. Nice counter southpaw 1-2s by Vega. Smith diving in, getting pushed down upon the nape of his neck.

    10-9 Vega

    39-37 Vega

Smith's corner parades him on their shoulders, apparently thinking he did enough to win.

Wampash has been stopped half a dozen times in 20 bouts...half of those inside 3 rounds...

Valencia comes out with a furious assault looking to set a new record against him! (Wampash has never been dispatched within a round)

Valencia's currently symmetrical record is 3-1-3 ...his defeat was against none other than Jaime Muñoz Zambrano (appearing in our main event later on), and he avenged that MD6 loss in their rematch with another 6-round majority decision last May in what stands in turn as Muñoz's only loss to date.

Valencia battered Wampash all over the ring in the 1st but couldn't get rid of him.

Wampash down with a minute left in the second, but ruled a rabbit punch, not a knockdown. Valencia then lifts him and drags him off his feet in a damn near semi-circle turning 180 degrees with a left hook embedded just below his chin.

Wampash has been doing comical dances all night in reaction to Valencia's punches, but has a curious ability to remain upright even on wonky legs and/or get in timely clinches.
