You can't blame the matchmakers in Panama of spoiling the fans with too much parity.

Except for the Vega fight, this undercard has been squash matches...and even there, Vega would have pitched a shutout IMO but for stupidly getting dropped.

 

Wampash actually ruled down just before the bell to end round 3.

He sat on the canvas and then sprang up and laughed with an incredulous head-shake when the ref counted at him. Like, dude, you thought if you rose quickly enough you could trick him into thinking it didn't happen?

 

Valencia has gotten away from his jab, throwing very wide pairs of power punches now, big sweeping hooks and gourd-pouring right hands or uppercuts. Wampash able to steer just barely clear of the brunt of their force, sometimes getting clipped and rocked off-balance, but always rolling with them, shimmying away with his limping gait, and sometimes even poking a counter jab into Valencia's nose.

 

Getting buck wild in the second half.. slow & steady pace, sloppy, both landing @ mid-range... Wampash actually having spots of success popping a squat and lunging in low with straight counters...

edit: and, never mind, he's dropped legitimately again, putting him in an impossibly deep hole by this point.

 

Wampash down a second time in the fifth. Ref says "you good?" and they have a 20 second chitchat about it, by which time the bell rings.

 

That said, the main event looks pretty tasty...agreed, @Somachenko?

 

Valencia telegraphing his punches so badly. Humiliating for Wampash that some of those bombs are still managing to find a home..

 

It would appear Swamp Ass is going to survive to lose something like an 80-60 decision.

 

^ fat lady hasn't yet sung, though...let's see what round 8 has in store for us.

 

Wampash has a bloody nose but still brawling in the pocket in spurts with the bigger & stronger (but much slower) Valencia.
