This is very possible. Although if JDS couldnt finish Nelson im not sure he's going to finish Cain who does appear to have a very solid beard. Im pretty sure Cain will try to take JDS to the mat and grind him out. This said i do believe JDS's striking is somewhat overrated. He has heavy hands but he's striking isnt that polished.
Nelson was on his way to being finished but got caught early. This can be detrimental because he then put his hands up, became more defensive and started bracing himself for big shots. Sometimes the easiest ko is a guy getting hit with something he didn't see, or he walks onto the shot, or he gets caught while throwing his own shot etc JDS could improve his technique but the most impressive thing is his timing, distance and overall skillset. Working the jab, going to the body, combo's, going up and down etc I think Cain is smart enough to go for the grappling game and I'm intriguied to see JDS show us just how good his grappling is and how he can stuff a determined wrestler but still let his hands go i.e. Chuck Liddell style.
Its a very good fight. A genuine 50/50 match as both guys are great prospects. Could even be the start of a rivalry.
Absolutely. These two look set to have a great rivalry. Brock and Shane, JDS and Cain. Best of 3. Then Ubereem comes in and steamrolls the lot of em
Cains chin didnt look too great vs Kongo to me, very nice recovery from getting rocked but I get the feeling that theres going to be no escape it he leaves the same openings vs JDS. As a standup fight I think this is kill or be killed for Cain, I don't think his defence or chin is good enough to last agenst Dos Santos BUT Juniors own defence is a bit questionable aswell and I could see him landing something big first. The big unknown is still JDS's grappling, I think we saw his TD defence is at least decent agenst Nelson but Cains likely to test it more than that.
Cain eats punches often and its gonna be his undoing when he fights Cigano, its gonna be a quick and brutal stoppage within the first 3 minutes. i might be a little bias but i have been anticipating this fight since before i knew cain would be champ. I saw a interview with Cigano after the Gonzaga fight where he seemed really bothered by the fact that Cain stopped his mentor and when asked who he wants next he seemed really adamant on fighting Cain ASAP. i think when you have a agenda to KO a person for reasons other then business it gives you a Fire to win that cant be imitated any other way.
With all due respect but what do they need to do? Overeem couldn't even get Fedor in the ring and they're in the same organization! M1 is tarnishing Fedor's career.
Isnt Ubereem with strikeforce? Damn MMA is basically like boxing then. That means they will never fight.
I love the way all these UFC Heavyweights say they want to fight Fedor all the while knowing their daddy Dana White would NEVER allow it. Pathetic.
Somewhat of a secular argument that. First off they could start by taking their ass to SF but we know thats not going to happen is it...
He is ATM, but i think he'll make the move sooner or later. UFC might need to loosen some of their pathetic contract stipulations though, as right now Ubereem's the best kickboxer in the world, i cant see him wanting to give that up
Yes, Dana White (Daddy) is doing everything in his power to not get Fedor to fight in the UFC. Good call.
