There's two parts of that finish that never seem to get the regard they deserve. 1st) After Velasquez lands that right hand on Nogueira's chin that drops him, there's a left hand following right behind it. It's unfortunate that something this fundamental isn't seen more in MMA.

And 2) the ****ing two-handed Mortal Kombat ground-n-pound Velasquez unleashes on Nogueira's face was damn revolutionary, over a decade in the making from what Mark Coleman first showed us in the 90's. Velasquez didn't merely jump on Nogueira ala Mark Munoz like some sex-raged chimpanzee; but casted down a blitzkrieg combination preordained by God almighty, himself.

    fully agree.
Also what you were saying about that follow up left-right that shocked me was the blazing SPEED of those punches. simply unbelievable

INDEED. I'll never get the image of Velasquez dribbling Nogueira's head like a ****ing basketball out of my mind.

I think Cormier matches up really well with Cain. Honestly, who is better? I can't friggin tell.

I think Cain will lose if he faces Cormier. Cormier better wrestler and has better stand out.

Given that Cormier is Velasquez's wrestling coach, and wrestling is Cain's main "go-to" I am leaning towards Cormier.

Striking; technically Cormier is the more polished of the two, effective striking for MMA is a tough one, Velasquez does seem to have improved in this specific area to the degree he could well be labelled a striker, not that Cormier could not, its just Velasquez's effective striking for this sport seems a tad more effective.

JJ doesn't really matter as these two have top games that are not rivalled in world MMA, well ............... St Pierre is in that bracket too but for HW's its more impressive IMO. Therefore they literally cancel out any advances from the bottom given the level of GNP.

I think Cormier beats him hands down personally.

Excellent source. The very next line says he's unbeaten.
