Good question, the thing is that he defends himself pretty well in terms of keeping guys away and out of harms reach. The question is can Cain get in the inside and make something of it to turn things in his direction, or will JDS control distance, pace and fight with his stand up. If Cain sits on the outside and can't get inside its not going to go well, obviously. This is a heavyweight matchup I'm interested in. You can't sleep on Cain though, he's been able to manhandle much bigger guys in there so far.
This. The lay-off will hurt Cain. He's lost alot of momentum. Soon as Cain tastes that leather he's going to know what's up. And theirs no way he'll try for multiple take downs. If he does he's going to get KO'ed even quicker.
Cigano's chin is solid, he took a big shot from Carwin in round 2 or 3 and ate that **** like it was lunch.
I would go as far as saying that no one in the history of combat has deserved a title shot more He has actually beaten top fighter after top fighter. He'll have no one to defend against once he beats Cain :yep
Cain is explosive and can match him for overall speed of movement. He'll apply that speed to his wrestling. JDS can stuff the takedown but Cain will attempt them very quickly and explosively.
If not for the layoff I would have given Cain about 60% chance of winning. With the Layoff I give JDS about 75% chance of winning if not more. I think JDS has faced better guys and looks so experienced and comfortable in there. I think Cain needs a tune up but that isn't fair on JDS who seems to win an title shot eliminator fight every other ****ing month.
Similarly, before the Carwin fight I'd have given JDS like a 30-40% chance, but given the fairly impressive TD defense and wrestling he showed the other night his chances took a jump, add to that the fact that Cain will have been out for over a year and JDS chances just keep going up
Im only giving dos Santos an edge on Velasquez in one single discipline , and thats boxing , if your breaking it down he's probably better at JJ as well , im talking in pure JJ terms , not JJ for MMA because dos Santos is not gonna keep Velasquez in bottom position for any amount of time , that said JDS is a brown belt under the Nogueirra's and Velasquez practises with Dave Camarillo (Ralph Gracie black belt and long time grappling partner of BJ Penn) and has done for some years now , he may even be edging dos Santos in JJ as well we just havent seen it in MMA . Im saying full heartidly Velasquez is gonna dominate this fight and he will finish dos Santos inside 3 rounds .
