thanks boom boom and McGrain, YAHOO SPORTS writer kevin IOLE is wrong in his analyis that CALDERON will win. If the fight continued even without the cut i believe mayol can win it. The rematch will shatter the zero loss or mr runner!
only fight that floyd "run" was margarito's offer and he had good reasons. Every big name cherrypicks.
my take on things. mayol won two (1 and 6) rounds clearly and calderon won two rounds (3 and 5) clearly. there were two rounds that were really close so we can't really complain about the scores. one judge gave the two close rounds to mayol, the other gave them both to calderon, and the third gave them one each. my biased filipino ass scored it for mayol 58-56 because he was pressing the action. but i understand how the close rounds could have been scored for calderon being the champ and all. however, i think calderon asked to be saved in that fight. he didnt want to be in that ring anymore. the cut was basically the same after round 5 and he got hit with a punch that opened it up again and he walked back, almost pleading with the ref to let the doc check him. the doc offered to bail him out and he took it. as one of the TV announcers said, he could have fought a little bit more. that fight didnt do anything calderon.
Actually I just got the report from my Dad. Calderon apparently trying to impress HBO tried to trade punches instead of boxing so much. He said Calderon could outboxing easy but he was trying to impress. Again, I am just saying was I was told. I haven;t see it yet
dude, no disrespect meant but he traded punches like two, three times in the entire fight. all of them after the headbutts. he was not trading before that and he didnt either after. if calderon wanted to impress hbo, all he had to do was keep fighting. cotto's cut was three times worse and he fought on. calderon asked to be saved, he took the easy way out.
