He is 36. This fight was the most money he was going to be able to make, in a single fight, before he retires.

Exactly. I can't understand anyone really expecting more out of Calderon unless they hadn't seen his last two fights (including the first loss to Segura).

Isn't that what all Puerto Ricans do?

Hey ring king you are the dumbest person I ever heard no thats not what all puertoricans do i would rather dies than loose i vwould not quit at all. Also if you look at the history of puertorican boxing they are not like that. When Tito Trinidad got beat by Bernard hopkins not for a second did he give up so shut up. As far as Calderon I knew this would happen he looks alot slower in the ring because of age and can't move the way he used to he is simply past his prime even i knew he would get his ass handed to him. If Ivan Calderon was 29 thoughv he would have outboxed and schooled Segura don't forget for years calderon has been the face of that division with only 6ko's to his record he out boxed any one put infront of him but he is just to old that's all.

That doesnt make you a professional fighter with a world championship pedigree who is getting mauled at the end of his career by someone bigger and stronger.

I'll concede that out of machismo I dont like fighters that quit, but the guy is 36 years old, has had 20+ championship fighters, and has been severely cut 3 across the forehead 3 times in the last year after being in with bigger fighters who were punchers, and he still beat ALL of them except for Segura.

He's more than earned the respect to say when he has had enough.

that's the problem when you are feather fisted and can't hurt your opponent. they will just walk through your punches and overwhelm you with their power.

Whether you have respect for Calderon's career or not what he did tonight was indeed pathetic. He definetely could of continued but chose to stay down. I give him the benefit of the doubt in the first fight but it was obvious he did not come in tonight with the intentions of winning at all cost. His legacy just took a nuke tonight. We gave Freitas **** because he quit, Calderon doesnt deserve different treatment.

He should just hang it up and retire. Only a fool would pay to see him again.

I give him credit for even climbing through the ropes and taking 2 rounds and change worth of punishment from Segura. He never had any chance of winning tonight. It was just a matter of how long. He didn't owe it to anyone to stand there and take a prolonged beating once it was clear Segura was catching up to him and pounding him essentially at will.

I'm not even an Iron Boy nuthugger, either. :yep

He basically had no business in there tonight. This was about as necessary a rematch as Pacquiao-Hatton. He tried for about two rounds. He might have even won them. Last hurrah for his fans. Went out on his shield. Withstood all that he could without getting his brains absolutely scrambled needlessly. I don't see the problem.
