I agree with your last sentence. That's all his flaws defined. I do think he's had a good career despite those deficiencies and has fought basically over his head since he entered the pros.

Surely he has enough dough in the bank to retire from active combat. But he won't. Who wants to stop doing what they love to do at 32? He has a rematch clause with Resendiz; he should take it. He definitely should avoid Charlo; the shine is off that apple and Charlo doesn't need to fight him anymore.

All of that is true, but his reflexes , speed and footwork allowed him to get away with his flaws, and put in some competitive performances vs very good fighters in the past. Last night Rezendiz started beating him up way earlier than even Benavidez and Canelo did, because Plants legs are gone along with his timing and confidence. He was not scared to let his hands go vs Benavidez and threw some nice combinations at times but last night there was nothing. Just left hooks and a timid jab. As mentioned earlier something seems off with him, he should retire. I don't think he won more than 3 rounds.

I think he should avoid the rematch like the plague, it'll turn out exactly the same, and I think Charlo should avoid Resendiz as well. Yeah, he stopped Cornflake last night but the fact that it lasted as long as it did, was a flat out embarrassment. A journeyman like Cota beat LaManna half to death in rounds, Antoine Douglas demolished him in 6, and Erislandy Lara knocked him out in 1 so brutally, he gave his ass a seizure. Charlo by all rights, should've been able to blitz him out at will. But the fact that he couldn't, and he couldn't stop Adams, the chinny Montiel or blown up Welterweight Jose Benavidez, really highlights how severely degraded he is as a fighter, Of course let us not forget his gifts against both Korobov and Derevyanchenko. So Resendiz has a legit chance here. Because if my suspicions are confirmed, Charlo's power is most likely non existent at 168, against anyone with a decent chin.

So my point is, Plant and Charlo should fight regardless, rematch and then both retire. Because they both most likely lose to Resendiz, as well as Melikuziev, Fulghum, Mbilli, Sadjo, Iglesias, Pacheco, Nelson, Nurmaganbet, Lester Martinez, and even a scrub like Berlanga. They might have a chance against Sheer Ass and Munguia.

Same thing that was plaguing him against McBumby, but he lucked out, because Terrible Trevor has a gas tank even worse than him. I mean, he couldn't even stop Christopher Pearson who Fulghum walked through like he was nothing. So sure, Plant has seen better days, because Benavidez and Canelo beat the fight out of him to a extent. Although I still think Resendiz has the style to beat a healthy Plant, only the later start would leave an opening for a flat out robbery as opposed to a SD attempted one.
