During a recent interview with FightHype.com, Plant referred to Jacobs as everything from "old" to "on his way out" and someone whom he'd love to "put a boxing lesson on." “He’s been in some tough fights,” Plant said. "But as (boxers) go through their career, they continue to get better and better, and they turn into an A-class fighter. He’s (Jacobs) not going to do that, and he’s not on the way up. He’s not 25, he’s not 27, and he doesn’t have 20 fights, 22 fights or 25 fights. He’s out, man. He had his chance." He added moments later: "By the time that I do become a mega star because I will, he’s already messed it up. He’s not a mega fighter, and we can’t have a mega fight. You’re old, and you’re on your way out. They’re not going to let that happen." All that being said, Plant (20-0, 12 KOs) said that he'd love to use Jacobs as a proving point and stepping stone on his way to that superstardom that he's promising. “He can have this fight because I would love to fight him," Plant said. "I’ll put a boxing lesson on him. I would love to fight him. I would fight him in a heartbeat." Plant's pointed shots toward Jacobs come after the former middleweight champion rebounded from his loss to Canelo Alvarez in May and moved up to the 168-pound division in December to make Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. quit after the fifth round. Jacobs (36-3, 30 KOs) recently assessed all the super middleweight champions and rated Plant last — a classification that probably triggered the return fire from Plant. "I would probably put Plant at the bottom of those names you just named," Jacobs told Matchroom Boxing USA president Eddie Hearnduring an Instagram Live chat late last month. "I think Plant is good, but I think he could be beat," Jacobs tacked on. "He's beatable. I see a lot of flaws in his game." At 33, Jacobs has registered nearly double the amount of pro fights than the 27-year-old Plant. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...xing-lesson-on-him/18zef6px1iutt1a7jkts5mor0x Thoughts??? In my opinion jacobs does have the tools to beat plant . the key in this fight is jacobs speed and athleticism he would have to catch plant cleanly in between exchanges on the lesser experienced plant . plant however might have the style to beat jacobs on his defensive first approach
Jacobs would piece him up. I so hope they fight and would LOVE to see Danny KO this slack-jawed clown.
I don't want to be over-the-top insulting toward Plant, considering he's clearly suffering from a delusional mental disorder, but I'm going to say it: His name is 'Caleb.' There, it's been said. I'm sorry. I know that was mean.
Plant needs to stop fighting bums and seeking aging middleweights. Next time he gets in the ring more than two years will have passed since Uzcatequi. The IBF and WBC ratings are depressing. Benavidez and Plant need to be matched up now. Literally every other fight on the docket for them is another Vincent ****enbutts or whoever the hell that guy was.
This. This kid is way too arrogant considering his current accomplishments. I hope he can back up his words come fight time, since he’ll become a joke if Jacobs and him ever fight and Jacobs manages to beat him, which is still a possibility.
I would love this fight. I would heavily favor Plant to beat Jacobs, but then again I also must add I tend to underestimate Jacobs. Plant UD Hope they can make it happen... but I know it probably wont.
No reason (apart from coronavirus) why Plant v Benavidez can't be made either. Nice inhouse fight for uncle Al to make.
Great fight. 50/50 fight. Jacobs has only lost to the best, has good skills, good power, and a lot of heart. Plant is slick and bigger, but there's still something lacking in his game. He hasn't proved his style is effective against someone of Jacobs' pedigree. Most of these PBC fighters just need to fight someone. So much rot.
Jacobs has accomplished more but I actually think Plant would outbox him. Jacobs has great fundamentals, speed, power, but his boxing brain is a level below elite. I think Plant would feint, move, and mix up his punches in a way that confuses Jacobs a bit.
Plant beats Jacobs by decision. On a side note, I know I'm getting old when I hear a fighter refer to Jacobs as "old." Doesn't seem that long ago he was an exciting young prospect coming off a celebrated NY amateur career.
Jacobs didn't really impress me with his skills against Canelo. He's a big athletic guy with decent skills. Caleb is an athletic guy with very good skills. I'd have to pick Caleb via close decision.
