Caleb Plant: Strength & Weaknesses

I don't think he's enough anything to beat Canelo. It's like Callum Smith, nothing wrong with him either, but that doesn't get it done apparently.

I think Plant had GGG style single punch power or had really elite hand speed and accuracy then he might have something, but as is it's more a question of if he can go the distance or at best snatch a couple rounds.

 

Why would anyone even entertain the idea of a slick fighter getting a decision against current Canelo?

I've seen Lara outslick and dictate him and GGG beat the f*** out of him and still he wins the round.

 

Canelo is at 168 now.

GGG is too old, but I'd give him about 12+ years of his career where he beats Canelo 90% of the time.

Lara wins 70% of the time at 154.

Real life and id stop all 3. Mike Lee is a bum, flatout. Sparring partners of mine of which i work whooped that guy like they were playin chess and he was playin checkers. Mike Lee fought nothing but stiffs. Look it up. Notre dame alum have good financial backers.

 

plant has all the tools. he has a High IQ, ii just think he lacks the power to bang with Canelo.

He doesn't have all the tools then.

 

His shoulder rolling style allows for it. He's pretty on point with his defense against the straight right. His reflexes being absolutely pinned also help. He should correct this as his career continues and before his speed starts to drop off.

 

Admittedly I’ve not seen much of plant but what is his power at 1-10? And after the fight he claims to have hurt his right hand. Maybe said that to save face disappointed that he didn’t get the KO?

 

Caleb lacks power but has good boxing skills and defense. The latter will allow him to take a fight with Canelo the distance but lose convincingly on the cards.

If he tries to make a fight of it and sit down on his punches, I can see Canelo stopping him. I can't see him beating Benavides either.

Also, Canelo has improved defensively since the Mayweather fight, so it would be interesting to see how Caleb handles that as well. Especially if he sticks to boxing and moving.

 

He’s very strong mentally. He comes to win.

 

Canelo likes his feet set to power punch. Who doesn't. Yidirim showed pretty much **** all.
