The time off could have very easily remedied that. Vitali Klitschko retired for 4 years for the same reasons and was the exact same age when he came back from retirement to fight and beat Peter. Not convinced Ward is shot, more so he was fed up with injuries and content with what he had accomplished. That's not the same as being shot.

 

One of Ward's greatest qualities was the ability to shut down his opponent's game plan and make them fight his fight. And while not powerful he was strong. These qualities age well. Fully-motivated and a decent camp, I'd give him a shout, even now...

 

Could be but then again I'm only going by what he said. I think if he knew he still had it he would have taken that career high payday to fight Canelo.
