What's the point of being capable of scoring non-concussive punches against Canelo if you still rarely win rounds you outscore in? The recent Compubox numbers clearly show Saunders outscoring Canelo in mid rounds and not being given certain rounds like these by the judges. It's commonly known you struggle to get given rounds against Canelo, but the stats clearly demonstrate this is not just perception, it's happening. So from a logical standpoint, a fighter who relies mainly on outpointing opponents, is not looking for the KO, is simply a waste of time against the current Canelo setup. We can see that clearly proven by Saunders, who would have lost even if he'd maintained his level until round 12. Canelo already had six or so rounds in the bag at the time of stoppage. Who is a better hit and not get hit boxer than Saunders at this size? They'd not only have to be a better pure boxer than Saunders but incredibly so just to guarantee a majority decision, which isn't realistic. The margins aren't that great at such a level. And they'd still have to survive this absurd power Canelo now has. It's been obvious for a while, but the Saunders scores should basically confirm it now. If you aren't coming to KO Canelo, then just forget the idea you can win. The only interesting fights now will be against bangers willing to exchange.
