Probably just pulled a calf muscle. Try using a roller to stretch it out. Reasons for pulled calf muscles could be too low of a sodium intake(if you are dieting and not eating at all and sweating alot) or not proper stretching before and after workouts.

Cheers for reply, I have been eating healthier and no longer add any salt to my food, I do also sweat loads when I work out alot more than the average person.

I do a warm up but not specifically stretch calf muscles.

Im going to rest for a few weeks, I think it would hurt too much on a roller at the moment, does that matter? or just do it gently?

walk a lot to rest it, don't sit around because it will get stiff.

or simply doing ankle mobilization exercises while you're sitting or lying down.

eventually doing some mild massage / foam rolling when the pain subsides.

if you're able to walk on it without much discomfort, it's probably just a mild calf strain, and nothing like rest and mobilization exercises couldn't fix.

with regards to salt, if it was a severe cramp from electrolyte imbalance, salt would actually help.

It's been a week and I can walk alot better on it now, I massaged it last night and a load of bruising appeared this morning? Was I doing it too hard?

I can also feel twitching around the muscle like nerves moving about? Is that normal?

Can stretch a bit better now so I'll start doing gentle stretches.

Well it's been 3 weeks today and I am returning to boxercise tonight...

Have rested/stretched/massaged I can stand on my toes and pull toes towards me without any real discomfort.

I'll take it easy tonight, apart from banging out some frustration on the pads.

Fingers crossed it's alright, I dont want to not be able to excersize for a longer period of time. :bbb

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this I also use zero high5 dissolvable drink tablets as I sweat alot, supposed to be sugar free and replace electrolytes.....hmmmmm.

First session back and no problems as such, calf felt heavy at the end though but no pain so good news.

I also forgot how good you feel after a good workout..

I got myself a foamroller, wow how sore! might have overdone it first time but you can really feel where you are tight, it feels alot better now.

I'm still doing it every other day and going to start using it for other muscles...It's painful but enjoyable! in a weird way! :good
