Calzaghe beating Hopkins and retiring undefeated has nothing to do with why Hopkins is greater than Calzaghe. Hopkins beating Pavlik in his next fight, then dominating Jones after Calzaghe did, and beating Pascal next will further prove he's greater.

I agree with what you say about winning a title at 45 is a great achievement full of praise. But Pascal isnt a proven special fighter, having lost to the limited C Froch. Pascals best win is probably Diaconu. Dawson was heavily overated and was praised for beating 2 fighters 14-15 years older who were hype jobs. I openly picked Pascal to beat Dawson before they fought, starting a thread saying so.
Hopkins resume is weaker than people think ie
He wins a vacant title against Mercado at the 3rd time of asking, defended against alot of smaller fighters and nobodies.
Wins his next title off of K Holmes. A fair win, but Holmes had been beaten a few times, one of those times to Cherifi.
He wins his next title from Tito who had only had 1 MW fight (with a glove wrap contraversy) and never did well at the weight after.
He wins his next title against Oscar, who also had only one MW fight (a disputed win) and never fought as high again.
