Search my posts from the time of the fights and you'll see them. There's plenty of close fights that can one way or another, this is a subjective sport. I bet though if you drew a Venn diagram of those who scored the Maidana fight for Floyd and those who scored the Castillo fight for Floyd and took all of those within the intersection, you'd still find people who did know **** about boxing, so I think your two options are overly restrictive. I used to feel passionate about close fights, the way you do now, but after many years it dawned on me that it doesn't actually change anything does it, no matter how fans feel about a fight one man walks away champ and one man doesn't. I'll always feel Tiberi got the better of Toney the night they fought, but if someone wanted to be a MW champion after the fight it would be Toney they would have to try to make the fight with. As I said though, that burning passion you feel, I don't have it any more. If you feel Castillo and Maidana beat Floyd, great. If you care enough to find my scorecards, go ahead and debate them. I had both fights for Floyd, but no matter how much we debate it the result is signed sealed and delivered.
Although people tend to overuse the word, Chico was a true warrior. Based on his willingness to fight a bigger Joshua Clottey, I have no doubt that he would’ve accepted the fight at a higher weight, which he essentially did. This makes Castillo’s actions even more despicable, since he knew he’d have a significant advantage by not cutting the last few pounds.
