Danny Garcia vs Lucas Matthysse The technically more gifted of the two (Garcia/Groves) who has better movement, faster hands, jab etc. is being picked to get destroyed by the tougher and bigger punching favorite (Matthysse/Froch), I honestly think it could play out looking quite similar to the fight between Garcia and Lucas. Groves will frustrate Froch with his jab and using his superior movement will create angles to let combinations go, Froch comes on too square and his feet cross each other, he'll be walking into hard shots from the off, relying on his granite chin in the belief that all he has to do is land one big shot and the fight will be over. I see Groves boxing off the backfoot early, frustrating Froch as I said, Froch thinks he's so high above Groves that he will panic when he realizes he is behind after 6/7 rounds and get desperate looking for one big shot, making mistakes as he does so and walking into more shots, Groves' chin will pass the test. Groves wins by competitive but clear UD (although a late stoppage honestly wouldn't surprise me)
I made the same comparison yesterday on here! I see things going very similar to Garcia - Matthysse! I won good money by betting on Garcia by UD and i will be doing the same by betting on Groves by UD.
To beat Froch you have to be extra slick like Ward and Dirrell are, Groves doesnt have that kind of talent Froch stops him.
Nope, nothing alike. Groves has never beaten anyone at world level the closest being an already retired corpse of Glen Johnson. Also Groves isn't a World Champion. Garcia on the other hand before the Lucas fight had already beaten Holt,Morales, Khan and Judah, been a World Champion and defended it twice and in his own opinion faced better boxers than Lucas. (that is debatable but i get his point) Garcia has a much better chin/punch resistance than Groves does, if he was as shaky as Groves is he would have been stopped by Lucas as Lucas caught him with some good shots. Groves isn't an Andre Ward, he won't outbox Froch for the 12 and he isn't Kessler like tough to out brawl Froch and take the punishment for the 12 rounds. Its pretty much a mismatch with Groves getting brutally stopped inside 6 rounds.
Didn't realise Kessler was extra slick. Trust me you don't need to be Andre Ward to beat Froch. Groves has all the tools to win this fight and will shock a lot of peeps come Saturday night
Kessler is tough though, and that was a razor close fight IMO. if Groves fights like Kessler did in Kessler vs Froch 1 then Groves gets Knocked out inside the first 3 rounds.
I can see the similarities. Both have some power and most people are picking the tougher, more crude slugger over the younger, faster and more mobile boxer.
Groves ain't even as good as Bute though, and has simply not faced anything like the quality of opposition. Beating Glen Johnsons ghost and squeaking by DeGale doesn't suggest to me George is capable of beating the worlds #2 SMW. Good luck to youngster, and perhaps I'm missing something, but Groves simply doesn't have what it takes in my eyes.
Groves will defeat that nicca Carl Froch in convincing fashion. Groves is smart, he knows that movement & angles are troublesome and problematic to Froch. Groves is gonna use movement and angles to land power shots on Froch when he is walking in. Groves has the right game plan and the stopping power in his punches that Kessler didn't have
Its possible that groves can win some early rounds so yes, still a similar result though i would guess. Stoppage win for Froch.
Yea we heard that before Cleverly-Kovalev too (not comparing either one). Bute is more talented than Groves but Groves fights smarter and hopefully he's not as vulnerable when he gets roughed.
