I also agree with the poster. He is crazy if he thinks that Roach would let Cotto face Golovkin or even another healthy top 10 middleweight.

Good:good I meant to say "don't listen to him Ellerbe" but it doesn't matter because I doubt Cotto will fight him anyway

Funny because most GGG fans hate me, because I gave Rubio and Geale a slight chance

Some good points. Cotto will be the biggest name and best fighter GGG has faced. I favor GGG to win though.

It would be Cotto stepping up, not Golovkin.

And Cotto is not an elite middleweight, so if you are talking about the "elite guys" which GGG apparently needs to face, Cotto is not one of them.

Golovkin is widely recognized as the best middleweight in the world. Cotto, on the other hand, has had only 1 fight at the weight. And it wasn't a full middleweight fight, but a catchweight, where he defeated an aging, likely injured WBC champion. So it is Cotto who needs to prove his worth at middleweight, not Golovkin.

Regarding the fight, I don't think that Cotto will take this fight. I've read that his management even said that Bradley is probably bigger fight for Cotto than Golovkin, so there you go. Even if Cotto agreed to fight GGG, he'd probably request some 156-type of a catchweight (not that it would increase his chances very much).

Either way, Cotto's time is running out right now and he better fight an opponent soon, because after this voluntary defense, he will be forced to either fight Golovkin or surrender the belt.

Cotto has a bad case of diva happening, that he got after his fight with mayweather. All top fighters will start the avoiding game after shown how to make millions without risk by the #1 p4p fighter today.

I'd probably pick GGG to win a tougher than expected fight. Like it or not Cotto is The Champ at MW and his stoppage of Martinez is better than anything GGG's done at MW!

GGG is a prime MW probably the only one of the few real prime fighter at MW, Cotto with his experience and skill could make it a fight he's not considered a real MW but 160 is probably around his natural weight so it could be a benefit like we've seen with aging fighters Cotto is probably at the end of his prime now and would be GGG's best win if he pulled it off.

GGG mid to late stoppage or UD 8-4/9-3

Since when has Cotto been known for ducking? Dude is a warrior and fought pretty much everyone.
    Could happen.

That would be one hell of a matchup. :)ibutt) Would the pressure and snap from GGG be too much to handle for Cotto? Could Miguel's boxing subtleties (which includes an awesome jab) trouble GGG's rythm?

I see this being a one sided fight for one of 'em. Not sure who. :D
