LOL you seem affected by the fact that I just cussed at your boy. I'll say it again, **** Joe Calzaghe
Joe Calzaghe keeps on bitching about how he gets no respect and recognition. Well, its his ****ing fault. He had the opportunity to go to the US a few years ago, but he decided to stay there in Europe and look what it did to him.
Whasup mate. I have to point out, though, that I'm not a Calzaghe hater, just a Calzaghe fan-hater. :good
yeah just look what it did to him, he's a real nobody who no-one talks about, is not top 3 pound for pound is not a national hero .
he aint my boy or even one of my favourite fighters, i justw anted to say **** you becuase your ignorant. Your a guy who has stepped in the ring and been beaten by a complete bum yet you diss a top pro fighter atsch
At the end of the day, Joe Calzaghe was a multiple weight World Champion, and a World Champion for over tens years. He is 45-0 unbeaten and has good wins over Kessler, Hopkins, Eubank and Lacy. He also beat some other prominent guys in the divsion like Mitchell and Veit. Right now, Calzaghe's resume is good, his achivements are great. Add Roy Jones and another decent fighter like Froch or Dawson to his resume and it becomes very good in my opinion.
The only people who care what American fans think, are American fans. No one else really gives a **** to be honest.
Hopkins may be 43, but he just destroyed a top 10 pfp fighter, and looked pretty damn amazing doing it. Calzaghe, at 36, beat that same Hopkins and made him look frustrated and uncomfortable. Not saying there isn't a lot of B and C level fighters on Calzaghe's resume, but post-Pavlik, that wins says a lot. imho.
I like Calzaghe, and I respect him as a very good fighter. But, I also don't live in a dreamworld, where his resume is somehow that of an ATG fighter. It's not. He was a product of his soft division, and never having to face a truly GREAT fighter within 5 years of that fighter's prime. That's the point, and that's Calzaghe's problem. Fighting BHop and RJJ at this point for money is a smart business move, but all it does is pad his legacy with names who real real fight fans know are way past their best. RJJ started at middleweight. He ventured to super middle, then basically wiped out light heavy, before going up to heavy to pull off a historic accomplishment. In his prime, he rarely lost a round. He put on exhibitions of power, speed, and elusiveness that have rarely been seen ever. Calzaghe dominated one soft division, and sat there 9 years, holding and defending a WBO belt, before fighting his next "champion" in Lacy... Then he took on an old Hopkins, who floored him in the first round, and beat Hopkins in a close fight that made Calzaghe look bad. His "dominant" performances, which were against Lacy and Kessler, were fighters untested, who in a few years will be forgotten. Calzaghe had the choice to go for greatness, step up to bigger and better challenges, or stay in his comfort zone and make his money. He took comfort, easy, and money. To be honest, I don't blame him at all. He's a smart man, and a good businessman. But good businessmen don't always go down as ATG fighters. And neither should Calzaghe...
Calzaghe ducked Toney by his lamentable failure to build a serviceable time machine iirc. I'm a little saddened that it's a good few months since anyone tried in seriousness to include Toney on the 'list of people Calzaghe ducked' :-(
