Honestly, the fight after watching it again is actually pure comedy for large parts, Canelo did more laps of that ring than Mo Farah could! G shut him down for a lot of it especially through the mid rounds, Alvarez was just happy to survive, fight in spurts & claim a moral victory cos it went 12! He won the rounds that had the lesser action in. G had more dominant rounds in that fight too. Alvarez only nicked some! 118-110 I'm also watched a version that has US commentary & they are watching a different fight to me! ****ing clueless!
Alvarez won 2 clean and there was 2 razor thin rds where he was out landed but landed the more eye catching shots. 116/112 GGG But if the same fight were to happen now, the judges and ref would face sanction for such subjective scores and for allowing clear hip shots to be scored by the subjective judges
Derevyanchenko will step up to the plate and it's a fantastic match up and their styles will gel together like Elton John and a lithe young Moroccan buck.
DChenko is a good fighter, but GGG is stronger, more experienced, the better outside fighter, the harder more fluid puncher.... Would be a decent scrap until DChenko felt the power and put the track shoes on. Andrade is the more established fighter and there are a handful of big LMWs that would jump at a PPV even if the guarantee was only 25%
GGG has too much for Spike. I like Spike a lot, he has power and heart but he should fight opponents close to his level right now, stepping up slowly, he would get beaten badly by GGG, too much punishment at his age. He should fight Lemieux next. Lemieux is a solid Top 10 mw right now, it would be a great win and then he can think about one of those names like Canelo, GGG, Jacobs or even BJS again.
Nah I think it would be a barn burner Dervevyanchenko is about that life and he's no runner. Boo Boo on the other hand would turn into Usain Bolt after tasting some of that Triple GGG Golovkin power.
I doubt that - this drugs scandal and ban is going to hurt his star power as much as losing to GGG would IMHO.
DChenko is crawling into his career, and while his amateur background is outstanding, he's done nothing as a pro to suggest he makes a good fight for GGG. Andrade has a solid CV and good name recognition. Just rather have a better LEGACY FIGHT if I'm GGG
If I am GGG I'd prefer the Andrade fight too. However, I understand that HBO is not keen on Andrade stepping in ... they think he's a boring fighter.
I like and rate Boo Boo but they'll just say Triple GGG Golovkin beat another LMW if he fights him. Derveyanchenko is very talented too, a natural and career MW, and he's got an exciting style and it will gel really well with Triple GGG Golovkin's and it's also a fight that I've personally wanted to see for a while now.
Problem with Canelo in that fight was that he tried to make it look like he was in control by picking and choosing is spots and just fighting for the judges.
It's just way too soon for a DChenko fight. He's got a legit ranking with the Soliman and Johnson Ws, but 12 fights in 5 yrs. And who's to say he's not Korobov/Kytrov 2.0. Might end up being frozen out of good fights for risk reward and become yet another soft looking defense on GGGs CV. As for Andrade being a LMW. He's always had the frame for MW but was cooking down for the names at LMW
Derveyanchenko is 32 and he had 410 amateur fights, going 390-20, including a 23-1 run in the WSB and he was the 2 x individual champion of it, and he's a beast. He's better in the pros than Khytrov and Korobov, both of whom have failed for whatever reason to replicate the same kind of form in the pros that they did in the amateurs and they've struggled against journeymen and lower level opponents and lost to guys Deveryanchenko would beat IMO. Derevyanchenko has looked very impressive in all of his fights I've seen and hasn't struggled against any of his opponents. Boo Boo weighed 166 for Vanes and apparently he was only 1lb more than that in his last fight against Fox. And in January he said he needs to put on more weight and muscle and get stronger before he faces one of the top guys at MW.
