Generally, you are a **** poster who has nothing of note that is worth reading. This however, I do agree with. Both combatants are in fantastic shape and they are rarely in dull fights. Macklin will be game and force the pace early, but so e stinging shots from the better boxer should keep Macklin at bay and gradually wear him down. This is going to be a great scrap, I can't wait.

 

Martinez KOs Macklin in the 8th. Hordes of Irishmen meet watery death over Chelsea Piers.

 

Macklin's aggressive nature will just mean a shorter night's work for Sergio.

It really is a question of how many quick & well timed shots can Macklin take before going down. He'll be there to be hit... great chin? 12 rounds, Sergio UD. Average chin? Martinez KO/TKO between R6 - R10. Don't think Sergio got old overnight, not at this point. Maaaaaybe same time next year, and even then that's a shot in the dark.

 

I doubt it. If Macklin comes forward, he's gonna get sliced up.

I think he's going to give a great fight. He doesn't just "come forward" recklessly, he applies pressure behind a tight guard and throws short accurate punches. I can see him giving Martinez trouble, and maybe even lasting the distance on this day, even if Martinez wins like I expect him to.

 

I'm pulling for Macklinthe underdog in this matchup!

 

Sergio Martinez gets by more on raw talent than on classic boxing ability. His late start in boxing is clear in his unorthodox technique, but athleticism gets him by. The way he carries his hands so low and in that peculiar position is a reflection of his cycling days. He's more use to riding a bike than boxing. I'm not familiar with Macklin, but if he is a true puncher with world class level talent, he could be capable of dropping a keg of green beer on Martinez' jaw tonight and raising a Guinness as the new World Middleweight Champion.
