As much as I do agree that Haye is a good fighter with explosive power and speed, he hasn't (and still hasn't even after KOing Chisora) got that good a HW resume. I understand he disposed of Chisora a lot quicker than Vitali and is hoping to fight him. But my problem is this: Does anyone else agree it is safe to want to fight Vitali when he is 41, practically semi-retired, has further ambitions outside of boxing and is obviously slowing down in the ring? When Haye did fight a prime Klitschko, we all saw what happened. I would like to see the fight regardless, but I just think the calls of "Vitali is ducking Haye" aren't that justified.
Yep, made a similar thread. Stinks of cowardice, but they underestimated Wladimir and it took about 30 seconds of that fight for Haye to realise he was in the deep end, maybe lightening will strike twice!
Agreed. Even if Haye wants nothing to do with Wlad and only wants Vitali, he ought to call out Wladimir anyway for appearances sake. By talking exclusively about Vitali he comes across as terrified of Wlad.
Yet, everyone says he doesn't deserve that fight. Sooooooo, he wants Vitali. Everyone with sense knows he has a better chance at beating Vitali tha anyone else out there. Why not make it happen?
"I want to fight 41 year old Vitali because he is on the downside" Haye should have really said those words
True, Vitali won a clear points decision. Haye knocked him out. Though boxing (and sport in general) doesn't work out like that. If you beat someone/a team or whatever "better" than your rival did, it doesn't automatically make you superior.
In boxing nobody cares if someone deserves a fight. If he brings the right money to the table then the fight is likely to happen. Maybe Haye gets enough media attention and PPV income from the UK to get Vitali interested. This is all about money, nothing else. For both Haye and Vitali.
Keep your knickers on, Andy. Vitali disposed of him. So did Haye. And Haye did it quicker. Try to keep your facts straight.
First off Vitali made his plans to enter politics known before the Chisora fight so him retiring and entering parliament is not running away from challenge, it is just following stated plan. Haye beat a fighter who has only achieved success at domestic level and was in his 19th pro fight, so should fight a top ten fighter to earn his right to title shot, if that is his ambition. After the jive talking hype of Haye prior to the Wlad 'fight,' and resulting poor excuse ridden showing, is Haye vs Vitali even sellable by the promoters? Perhaps given the sorry state of the Heavyweight division it might be sellable who knows.
