    In the works per the rumor mill, with the WBA super middleweight champ being the consensus educated guess when the Cuban light heavyweight contender issued a cryptic Tweet on Thursday afternoon regarding an offer for a big fight at 168lbs. Presumably the WBA title would be at stake, 1st defense of Smith (alongside perhaps a third defense of his WBC "Diamond" belt).

    The champion is eight years Barrera's junior, an inch taller, and has 5" more reach. The defector Fromm the Castro era República has the much deeper amateur pedigree and has faced the overall better competition in the pros, although he failed his two biggest tests (against Ward & Bivol) while Smith defeated his (Groves)...their W columns otherwise being more or less a wash.

    Pretty interesting match-up. I'd say Barrera is the better fighter and would be my favorite at 175lbs, but the potential effects of weight drain (which Sullivan in a follow-up tweet seemingly dismissed as manageable) throws a spanner in the works...

    Misplaced vote thinking it's Callum Johnson. I'd favor Barrera against Johnson, but Smith would win at 168, likely at 175 as well once he gets used to that weight.

    IB funfact: Barrera is 4-2 lifetime against unbeaten opponents, and 1-0 in his career against guys with the last name "Smith". :thumbsup:

    I think Sullivan Barrera would have a good chance of winning if the fight is at 175.

    But if he goes down to 168, he might be weaker and weight-drained.

    At 175 its a pick'em. 168 favors Smith - Barerra would be drained.

    Good fight, one I expect Smith to win in a competitve fight. A solid name for Smith's resume, Hearn previously said Smith second title defence if he is successful would be a a mega fight ( Canelo or GGG is my guess).

    Barrera is all wrong for smith style wise but with that weight drop you never know, Barrera could struggle to make weight and then come fight night not have any snap in his punches

    I like how Barrera has pretty much been calling out everyone in the top 10 at 175 for a fight so to take this one on fair play to him

    Callum by close decision.
    Barrera is probably borderline top10 in a deep and strong division, but I think 175 Smith has enough in him to edge him out in a competitive fight.
