same thing will happen with gallaghers.

would ricky burns be as good a fighter if you spend 5x less time with him?

    Spot on Billy...:good

If someone was that good with potential to go all the way and Freddy Roach wanted to work with them, they would be there full time just like Amir Khan is...:yep

I know that been around greater successful fighters in a gym builds morale in the stable and gives people confidence, I think that Matthew Macklin has switched trainers far to many times and should have left Team Hatton much earlier than he did...:yep

I hope Macklin does the best he can with what he has got but his "window" to step up at the right time to the next World Championship level may have just past him now...:yep

There is one thing for certain coming out of it all, British boxing is thriving at the moment with our current crop of World Champions and the healthy domestic rivalry within a number of weight divisions...:yep

Let's just hope the fighters get the right fights and right money so the punters can bang out the venues for some great nights of boxing...:yep

dunk is right joe is spreading his self to thin joe has something like 20 fighters they all come into the gym at the same time every day so it's fair to say he cannot be giving every fighter 1-1 coahing it's impossible in the couple of hours they are there i've watched the training there a couple of times joe has his lads doing circuits and bag work up until 3 weeks before they are schedule to fight then he puts them on the pads and some sparring from a coahing point of view that cannot be good for the fighter a fighter needs pad work every day to lean and perfect his moves if you take a look at billy nelson he puts his lads on the pads every single day thats one of the reasons he has a word champion ( billy best trainer in the world ) :bbb

you can say that for any trainer though, how many fights are 50-50 these days?

when the question has been asked and a 50-50 fight has come up hes plotted the downfalls of his fighters opponents.

    Jamie McDonnell vs Stephane Jamoye
    Danny McIntosh vs Thierry Karl
    Ashley Theophane vs Lenny Daws
    Craig Watson vs John O'Donnell

Involving UK fighters this year....sad that Sky have had only 1 50-50 this year.

the only 50-50 fights on Gallaghers 44-0 record are Crolla's wins over Morris and Watson. Thats not slagging of Joe its just a fact.

If Crolla beat Rees, If Macklin beats Gevor, if Smith beats Simpson and Murray beats Mitchell you can call him the best trainer in Britiain.

What i ment by "u can say the same about any trainer" is that which trainers fighters are constantly in 50-50 fights???

oh **** yeh i forgot, the best trainer in the worlds (billy nelson) fighters are constantly in 50 -50 s, i mean, to plot the downfall of evensen and laryea is true genius isnt it.

p.s not stating uv said nelson is best in world but ive seen it in this thread from some1 else.

couple of thoughts from an outsider
    a) surely gallagher has assistants who work with the fighters? if so i'd be amazed if they don't sit down at the sessions and review the days events and plan who's going to do what the enxt day
    b) going to roach - i'm sure the boxers go in with their eyes open and know they're not going to get 1 -1 sessions. it sounds more like the things we do in athletics where they hold event specific workshops; a top coach in the event will hold group training sessions with the coaches looking on , taking notes, helping with the sessions etc plus some 1-1 stuff for the individual athletes from the top man. coach and athlete go away and put into practise the best stuff and the stuff that actually works for them. you keep doing things like that and all the time refine your coaching skills, dumping stuff that's not effective for your athletes and trying out new stuff

No disrespect to billy or ricky but his 2 defenes of his world title fights were hardly 50-50s were they? the point im making is the trainer can only prepare his figter for ever who hes matched with its not his fault the standard of opposition hasnt been the best.
