I doubt many will travel from Barnsley to London on a weeks notice. Especially with Barnsley at home that day.
Azim is pound for pound probably the best talent in the Boxxer stable but has been promoted horribly. Yesterday I saw some graphic Boxing News made where he was talking about how he's "started reading Harry Potter to improve my English". Granted, you cannot control everything a boxer says, but for one of your key talents you really should be spending resources on media training him. Callum Simpson has done well from Boxxer. Probably one of their best developments. (CBS probably #1 but that's got a question mark next to it as they didn't actually intend to develop him, he was supposed to lose vs Okolie and lose vs Riakporhe.)
Azim looks good and will probably have a great career but he just hasn't been in with anyone yet so it's hard to assess how he will mix it with the real fighters of the division and above. There's a good chance Simpson could end up boxxers main star in a couple of years. As you've said, he's coming along well, he talks and comes accross good and he's actively promoting himself. Also he's a very smart young man. I think everyone likes CBS tbh
He has hardly said anything wrong has he? Reading should be applauded and encouraged, subject matter irelivant In terms of the fights he has had, how would you say he has been promoted horribly? The Harlem Eubank fiasco was poor and other than that I don't see many, if any mistakes Forget Dalton Smith, he needs that fight more than Azim does
Thank feck somebody said it. To suggest he needs PR training for saying he's been reading Harry Potter, when the mainstream media and consumer loves corny crap like that, is ludicrous, and this is from a bloke who pretends to be working in broadcasting or something (alt of Boxberry)
I don't. Smith would put a glass eye to sleep and bored with his avoidance of Opetaia. Just admit you don't want to box him like others have done in other divisions about their rivals. You don't want it. Just say it. Everybody knows it ffs
To be fair no pro is gonna say anything like this whilst still active and still trying to get pay days
9000 tickets sold for his next fight before they have even gone on general Sale and not a single undercard fight announced yet
Probably seeing if Callum sells it on his own and if he does that'll dictate the undercard. Everything seems to be falling into place for Simpson...he's come up the hard way too and that's a slog in itself. You going pal?
Unfortunately no I'm not going this time, family commitments on the date. Was gutted when they announced the date, as last summers event the town was absolutely rocking. Not just during the fight, but the bars before and after were packed, everyone in a great mood - it felt a bit like a football play off weekend. I think this is partly due to Simpsons success and connection to fans, but also having events like this in towns that rarely get a big occasion, everyone gets involved. I expect Wardley in Ipswich will be similarly successful. Its good for boxing
