Callum Simpsons fight in June in Barnsley, Boxxers last date on Sky?

Probably the last fight of this contract, but I thought all signs were pointing to them renewing it.

 

I thought Ben had confirmed it was renewed

Would like to see Sir Mick of Hennessy making a comeback on Sky Sports.

 

Good. They've been pretty patchy, but at least Sky haven't given up on UK boxing.

 

I have never understood this debate.

Sky Sports has invested heavily in Boxxer over the last 4 years so the deal between the 2 parties will be renewed.

This will be announced soon along with the announcement of at least 2 major UK fight nights.

 

I think a lot of it is people just wanting Shalom to fail. He’s young, bit of an outsider, and there’s a few questions about where his money comes from.

But it’s pretty clear the brief from Sky was to build a diverse roster of young fighters on the cheap, that they could build their boxing output around for years. And he’s done that, even if progress has been a bit slow, and people like Buatsi, Riakporhe and Azeez haven’t quite worked out.

The only thing he’s not done is create PPV headliners yet, but that’s not as important now Sky (and Shalom) have their fingers in the Riyadh Season pie. But given the time and effort Sky have put in to building the likes of Azim, Simpson, Whittaker, Riley, Dubois, Price (and token white man Billam-Smith), Sky would be mad to pull out now and let TNT or DAZN reap the benefits.

 

This card is only a couple of weeks away. Anybody aware of the lad Zucco that Simpson is fighting? His record looks good (21-0, 18KO) but I’ve never seen him box. Southpaw as well and can obviously bang so on paper looks like a decent matchup.

The undercard is not good

 

Zucco did a better job on Germaine Brown than what Mark Jeffers did.
He also won the Italian title off a kid that was a decent amateur. Hard to say anything past that.
Him and Sumpson are both put forward by the Ebu after Sadjo dropped the belt. Zucco was actually mandatory for Sadjo before Sadjo dropped it.
Top 2 ranked, to fight for the belt.
Its a good match up.
Tbf to Simpson he's doing well. Beat a decent kid in Chelli to challenge for the British & CW. Had a mandatory straight away in Stead Woodhall who was coming off a good win vs lerrone Richards. He beat Stead.

Callum Simpson has been built up perfectly by Boxxer / Sky.

 

You were all wrong. It would have been crazy for Sky to extend the deal considering how badly a job he's done. It's been a terrible 4 years.

 

This. He’s gone from fighting on small hall shows to fighting in his home stadium in front of 15,000 but it seems people refuse to give Boxxer any credit.
