SMW to beat.. He's also fortunate to have a fairly weak division but that's not his fault.. He reminds me of a gangly Errol Spence in some ways (he's big for his division too..) Tight defense, controls the range, sharp on the counter.. Clever fighter! Strong too.. Who beats him at 168?
Smith is no nowhere remotely CLOSE to being as talented and good as Spence. Jesus Christ! He is a good fighter though, but I tend to believe both Uzcat and Benavidez would beat him. Smith would beat Zurdo Ramirez and Caleb Plant.
At 168 no one beats him he is just far too big. But once he moves up to 175 coming up against guys his size, I think he could be prone to getting outboxed like in the Skoglund fight.
Skoglund nearly beat him. Kickboxer Holzken also gave him a difficult night. Callum seems to raise his game for better opponents but he’s not unbeatable. Bivol has teased coming down to take him on, and that is a winnable fight for Biv.
Smith is a big guy and has sound fundamentals. He's going to be hard to beat but he's not unbeatable and the top level of the division are all unproven over several fights. Benevidez, Zurdo and Uzcategui are all at the same place as Smith, some decent wins but only been at world level a short amount of time. Smith of course has the best win in Groves but other than that there's nothing much between the quartet. You also have Shiskin and Abdugofurov who have impressed for the few fights they have as well as Plant coming through. Mix up Degale, Eubank, Groves and anyone joining the division from another weight and we should have some good fights happening soon.
Bivol was going through the motions in his last fight, but he's simply on a different level than Smith. Bivol would take Smith apart.
The hype for Uzcategui is unreal, he struggled with an Argentinian cab driver. Ffs if the cabby hit a little harder it was game over. Caleb Plant will school him 12-0 and I don't even rate Plant that highly. Callum Smith would kill him (Uzcategui).
