People were so stupid. Who has the plank ever beaten? NDam.A washed up middleweight he dwarfed, and a washed up half crippled Groves (who fought him on even terms until the stoppage). Yet supposedly knowledgeable UK boxing fans elevated Plank Smith to superstar status, completely overlooking his shortcomings. It's embarrassing really. Fellas who really should have known better lost the run of themselves over the big stuff lump. It was obvious to me all along he was nothing special. I said so repeatedly and was ignored.

I dont think you were ignored Len
    More disagreed with
    But credit where its due
Smith needs to absolutely dazzle in his next fight and against top opposition
Or im in firm agreement with you
As it is im leaning towards your views after Saturday

The way I read it, Smith wants the big fights 1st (Canelo, GGG) knowing if he loses, then like Khan taking bigger fights 1st (Canelo, Crawford) and getting whupped but with the safe knowledge that Brook is always around, Smith will still have the BJS and CEJ fights to fall back upon.

If Smith took the BJS and/or CEJ fights 1st and he himself got whupped, then he can kiss goodbye to ever sharing a ring with either Canelo or GGG.

    Gallagher is a plank though.

The end result though, as we have seen with Brook/Khan, is bad for fight fans. Their peak moment has since passed...

Its fine chasing the big fights....but its pointless when their just going over to get beat up. Most of them dont even have a proper go either. We all know how it will go under gallagher....smith fighting cagey trying to give nothing away as canelo goes about breaking him down. Basically because canelo,s out of his league.

At least when hatton etc went over he had a proper go....but the guys nowadays dont really beat the mid level competition. Just want to hype themselves into a big fight...then fight defensively cause their not on the level. Thats when you know you,ve been tricked....when smith, bellew, gallagher etc have been telling you things like canelo wont be wanting to face callum smith at all. Till the night comes and callum smiths not even fighting like callum smith. But like a guy that knows hes out his league.

If smith wants the big fights...he should prove hes good enough for them first by beating eubank junior, bjs, plant and whoever else is around that level. Look at fielding beaten a fair few times....still got the canelo fight. Dont waste your time waiting on canelo, low risking it etc....go out their and build a proper career. Too many cynical boxers out there atm...gallaghers gym one of the worst around.

I reckon Canelo will go for Smyth now instead of Saunders because Smith is ring no.1. Billy will now not only miss out on the Canelo fight, but also the Smith fight. If that happens, hopefully he drops back down to middleweight and fights Andrade or Golovkin.
