Smith is good but becomes basic if he can't bomb you out of there in the early rounds. He struggles with a good jab and movement as Skoglund showed.

I don't rate Smith particularly, either. I see him as a functional operator with two brittle vets in front of him, and I expect his freshness, fitness and size should see him through. Then again, his semi is in Germany, so he may need to win rounds rather dominantly.

Imagine if Braehmer won it all? Be pretty surreal for a fighter touted as highly as he used to be to finally be vindicated.

Makes sense. He's prime and has what, half a foot on Sloth?

There's a big enough margin in boxing IQ to justify lumping on the man with the oddly shapen head though, especially if the value is high.

3 and a half inches officially is the height difference, not sure about the reach. I'm fairly conflicted on this one actually, people need to not freak out and overrate the Brant performance, I went with Braehmer initially and changed at the last minute in the league, partially due to hive mentality coupled with fear that moving down in weight at 40 isn't a great idea, and his quit job against Clev, pointed towards Juergen being shot. But beating a hypejob like Brant and beating a hypejob that's a far bigger stronger meaner and a little more proven like Smith is another thing altogether. Braehmer didn't look great against Clev, regardless of all the people saying he was schooling him, that's bull****, it was back and forth with Clev coming on before he quit, and I have a feeling the same thing will happen here. But guys with a good jab have always given Callum problems, Braehmer has a great jab, good chin, and underrated power, and IIRC I don't think Callum has faced an elite southpaw to date, so we could be in for a schooling. This one is really stressing me out, also..... its in Germany.:dunno

I dont think Braehmer will deal with the size of Smith if im honest. I think Smith might of really underestimated Skoglund in that previous fight which made it alot more competitive. i expect to see an extremely driven and determined Smith who will come out tentative but will find his range quickly and win this one with a close points win on the cards but in the eyes of the fans the scorecards will be far too close.

Or Braehmer just absolutely old mans him.

Chuck, you know I got mad love for you bruh, and yet I have to nitpick a couple of things here...

    a) his name is Jürgen Brähmer
    b) polls need end dates!!!! (otherwise people can just swoop in and vote for the winner after the fact and pretend they knew it beforehand and get all falsely smug, pet-peeve of mine...)

Shall I go ahead and make those fixes for you?

    I don't believe there's a German translation for Smigga.

IF Callum Smith can defeat Juergen Braehmer on Saturday (February 24) in Nuremberg, he will be in line to fight WBA super-middleweight champion George Groves in the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

Focused on his up coming contest, Smith has dwelt little on Groves and did not attend yesterday’s fight with Chris Eubank Jr at the Manchester Arena.

On Groves, Smith commented, “We’d have to sit down with Joe [Gallagher, his trainer] and watch a lot more of him. There’s watching someone as a boxing fan but when you’re potentially fighting them you watch them a little bit different. He’s good, he’s dangerous, he’s got a good jab. He’s very heavy handed, he’s got good movement.”

“He’s got vulnerabilities. If you hit him, he shows he can be hurt,” Smith also reckoned. He believes his advantages are resilience and stamina. “He’s a big super-middleweight but I don’t think he has that size advantage over me. It’s a completely different match up, me v him, than him v Eubank. It’s different. I think he said in an interview we both possess different problems. It’s been talked about a while, me v Groves. I think I was asked to fight him when he was mandatory for the WBC and then he was asked to fight me when I was mandatory and it hasn’t happened. If it does happen in the final for a world title, I think that’s probably the best time for it to have happened,” Smith continued.

“As a potential opponent, I’m looking forward to it, but even regardless of that I do think he is a good fighter. I think hats off to the World Boxing Super Series, it has put the best v the best in both weight categories. There should be more of it boxing.”

The stakes for Smith when he travels to Germany therefore are high. “A win against Juergen Braehmer puts me in the mix,” he said, “it puts me in big fights, which is what I turned pro for

Yes I know but Smigga is not Smith. AFAIA, that nickname is unique to Paul ''Smigga'' Smith and it's bloody stupid and annoying IMO. I don't believe there is a German translation for such a stupid word.
