This forum seems to have gone in to melt down over the last 24 hours with Algeri being stopped by prospect Spence.... But that's all he is atm, a prospect! I've seen posts on here suggesting Spence knocks out Floyd! I mean come on! Spence is a great prospect with huge talent, but let's not get carried away, he needs time and experience. At this stage of his career give him the Algeris, Guerreros, Rios, Chaves type of fighters.... But let's not say he beats all the top guys at 147 just yet. There is nothing from Spence resume so far that suggests to me that he beats Thurman, Brook, Bradley, Khan, Garcia etc He's mandatory for Kell Brooks IBF belt, if Brook takes the fight, that should tell us more about both fighters
What does his resume at 26 and under 4 pro years tell you? Resumes mean nothing, you fight only who's put in front of you. Fyi: boxrec is not how to tell who can beat who
Point i was making is he's not stepped in with anyone really decent yet, so we shouldn't be gassing too much until he steps up
Disagree. I've been high on Spence long before this fight. Said it before, and I'm just going to keep saying it.... Spence is the goods.... "The Truth."
It's hard to guage just off the Algieri fight, for all we know Algieri would have been just as bad vs any other of the top welters this night. Thurman Brook might have knocked Algieri faster for all we know.Impressive by spence excited to see what happens next with him. He doesn't seem like a bad kid either good attitude and not too brash.
Fair enough. Kinda natural after such a performance, its like Ortiz after ko'ing Jennings. You ko a contender ATG's haven't ko'd, and don't have a track record of anything else, and suddenly your better than the ATG. He's got a long way to go to prove that he could ko even a shot May (or even Pac). But its in the discussion now.
I think I've actually seen more threads saying calm down than I have hyping him up. Beating Algieri doesn't make him the man or anything but it was an impressive performance and he has to be considered a threat to the top guys at 147 now.
Khan beat Algieri and was given shlt. All of you who say they have been talking about Spence for a while on here are fvcking liars. I have only seen Spence's named mentioned once on here and I'm pretty sure it was because he was on an undercard.
Its normal here. Most of the people on here are a bunch of emotional no it alls who in actuality dksab. This kid is legit and not a prospect but a contender. I want to see what happens to him when he gets hit by a guy who can punch. Im a little suspicious that they seem to keep putting him with guys who cant break wind never mind knock somebody out. Im going to wait to see his chin get tested but the kid deserves a shot a title and then we`ll see what hes made of. Id love to see him against Brook because i have a ton of questions about brook also. Imho Brook is either a hype job or the best of the young crop of ww.
Spence fights whoever they put in front of him. Yes he is still a tad bit green but as long as he keeps doing what he is doing he will be ripe soon enough. I think he can beat the following fighters right now: Pacman Broner Porter Bradley Garcia Khan Brook I not sure what he can do with Thurman and Mayweather don't have enough power to keep him at bay. Floyd needs to pick his comeback opponent carefully.
Pacquiao didn't get a fraction of the praise for beating Algieri the way he did, but Spence did look tremendous. Still, beating Algieri, a light-punching fella, shouldn't warrant the assumption of future domination.
The KO of the Caged One means Spence is not hype that's for sure. But is he worthy of the hype you guys are putting on him, probably not. I think that is a fair point.
