I dropped Calvin an e-mail last night to ask him how things are going, and to let him know that we are still thinking of him, and keeping him in our prayers...here's his update to the ESB community...

Suge thanks for the update. Calvin is a good guy and is great for the sport. I hope he can comeback one day.

  3. He would still be a top ten heavyweight if it wasn't for his injuries

I wish him luck and a good life with boxing or not. Boxing is not the only thing he can do.

    Look forward Calvin Brock.

I didn't know he was hurt. Bummer. But at least he is smart enough to be able to do other things. Seems like a decent guy, so he should be okay, even if he doesn't box again. In the long run , it may be for the best. How many can look back on a life that includes being an Olympian and fighting for a Heavyweight championship? To me, the guy is already blessed.

I talked to his dad a few nights back. His dad said that the last surgery was a failure but they are not giving up. Calvin has been training fighters at the Ultimate Gym in Charlotte, NC.

I want him to get his lost vision back but I don't really want him to return as a boxer. I think the eye will be something that would always be in the back of his mind and cause him problems in the ring. He would only be jeopardizing his health further if he can't concentrate 100%. Luckily he has other options outside of the ring that are both safe and lucrative.

I know the Nichols Company and working in Real Estate in this Market right now is no sack of cash job. He'll be back!

He's got seven listings on the web site (although they're smallish). Hopefully he can close most of those before commercial real estate weakens more.

You know, if it turns out that he is not able to come back, maybe he could have a career as a trainer, if he wants to remain involved in the sport.

Anyway, good luck to Calvin. Hope things turn out the way he wants them to.:yep
