Carl was schooled yes for the majority of the fight......but he was still there throwing punches which caught and hurt Groves, If the fight was allowed to continue any longer Groves would have been brutally ko'd in my opinion. If it did carry on there would be no more rematch talk!

No it wouldn't, their careers were at completely different levels. These are the fights that were happening around the same time:

Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy - Carl Froch vs Brian Magee
Joe Calzaghe vs Mikkel Kessler - Carl Froch vs Robin Reid
Joe Calzaghe vs Bernard Hopkins - Carl Froch vs Albert Rybacki(?!)

Froch didn't fight Jean Pascal (probably the fight that started to put him in the public spotlight) until after Joe had retired, and he didn't even have a steady TV deal until he joined Hearn's stable 18 months after Joe had retired!

The truth is Carl kept calling Joe out for the publicity, like all up and coming boxers do to their contemporaries. Luckily the fight never happened because it would have probably done for his career what fighting Joe did for Jeff Lacy's.

Froch was offered the Calzhage fight twice, but he knocked them both back. I don't know if they were terms or anything like that, but ****** offered Froch the fight twice. Froch was made mandatory for the WBC just as Joe had beaten Kessler and UNIFIED the division and the biggest money fight out there at the time was to fight Hopkins up at 175 lbs for the lineal title in Vegas. Froch wasn't the big name fighter he is now at that time and you can understand how Joe went after the big names in America. As for Froch he has TWO CHOICES give George Groves the rematch or retire it's is simple as that..

 

Thank god someone is talking sense. Swear people are rewriting history of what happened. For argument sake Froch was nowhere near ready for JC. Dunno why he goes on about it when Joe retired Froch career got a boost. He had nothing to bring to the table for a fight with Calzaghe

statistically true maybe but a bit disingenous considering they were both in camp at the same time and it was only a matter of weeks between the Pascal and Jones Jr fights. Let's not forget the Pascal fight was seen by 6 million on ITV too.

I'd like to see the rematch but it's laughable Calzaghe taking a pop when he ignored his hungry young lion in Froch and refused to give rematches to Kessler and Hopkins. Get back on the sniff and stop stirring joe :hi:
