He earned 2 bits at the cherry because firstly he got himself into the mandatory position, where if Froch didn't take the fight he would have got stripped. He then kicked Froch's arse for the majority of there fight, before Howard Foster decided to take to the stage.
:rofl a bit like how Joe vacated rather than face his mandatory, Froch, then? Ok JIm whatever you say. Pointless going over this again but suffice to say some think he would have won, others think he was done...the record shows tko9 regardless. I'd like to see the rematch because it was a damn good fight, but this 'rematch or retire' shite from George is just nonsense. Maybe in the future if he's in a fight and the opponent has 'had virtually no success' like he claims he'll realise it's not a great idea to turn away from the action with your arms hanging limply by your side. :yep
Not a murderous puncher but a very effective one when he lands clean. He hurt Groves in that 9th round and although the stoppage was premature if it continued he realistically would have layed Groves out because he was catching him with hurtful shots while George was staring at the floor....they are the sort of punches which do the damage. If they have a rematch Groves has a very good chance of winning. He has the blueprint on how to beat Carl, he is younger, fresher and has all round better boxing skills than Carl. That fight just there will probably take a lot out of Froch. I have said for years that Calzaghe would beat Froch, I think he would have won by a landslide if they had boxed.
Calzaghe was at the end of his career, he went to the states for the money and cashed out on 2 big pay days.. don't really blame him, Froch was hardly the 'international superstar' at the time was he. Anyway, 5 years on and most people hold the opinion that Hopkins would beat Froch, so that tells its own story. Rematch or retire, how's it nonsense? Groves is having to do whatever need be to get the rematch on... if coming out with comments like that gets on Froch's tits then so be it. TKO9 is a paper win, dress it up however you want... it's a paper win end of story. Now that's not Frochs fault, the daft stoppage is to blame.. because everyone is now left thinking 'what if'. It's unfinished business, Stevie Wonder could tell you that. If Froch wants to put it to bed, then he has to do take the rematch and do the business. If he don't, he'll be seen as a bottle job.
Joe never gave Hopkins a deserved rematch, he faced shot to **** Jones JR and then retired instead. he should keep quiet here. but yes i would like to see Froch vs Groves again before Froch retires. Doesn't have to be his next fight though.
Felt Joe won, close but clear decision. Watched that fight numerous times, don't see how it can be given to Hopkins. Difference is, there wasn't huge controversy and public outcry after Calzaghe/Hopkins like there has been since Froch/Groves.
A rematch will be on the only way Froch can put the whole thing to bed. However if he only has one or two fights left he will go for big money spinners and I don't think Groves will be part of that.
