You're going to cry after Hopkins schools Calzaghe and exposes him as the overrated sack of **** that he is, aren't you?

Are you telling me you think that Tito is a better MW than Joe is a SMW/LHW.

I'm not even a big fan of Hopkins.

I'm simply amazed by the unwarranted pedastal on which so many here place the unheralded Calzaghe.

    Absolutely not

Trinidad was a one dimensional fighter at 160. He probably just makes the top 50 ever at middleweight, and even then, he may not.

On the other hand, Calzaghe has accomplished more than any super middleweight in boxing history. He's a top 5 pound for pound fighter in his natural weight class. And on top of that, he's multidimensional and a better overall fighter than Trinidad at 147 (or any weight for that matter)

A win over Calzaghe would be MASSIVE for Hopkins. It would be one of the best wins in history when you take into account all the factors and variables.

How? Joe's ranked #2 P4P by Ring magazine, is coming off a career defining win and is the undisputed 'greatest SMW ever'. Undefeated at 44-0, a natural SMW-LHW sized fighter for once and multi-dimensional, not 1 dimensional like Tito.

Now where does Tito ever becme a bigger win?

Based on the fact that Calzaghe is a top pound for pound fighter in his NATURAL weight class. He is perhaps the best all around fighter and most versatile fighter in boxing.

Please don't tell me De La Hoya and Trinidad (at 160) are better than Calzaghe at 168. And don't tell me Winky Wright or Antonio Tarver are better at LHW than Joe is at SMW.

if calzaghe wins he beat an over the hill hopkins. if hopkins wins it is another notch on his belt. calzaghe hasn't been tested like hopkins has. it is not a mega-fight.

Umm, based on the fact that no one thought Hopkins would win and that dude was undefeated going into the fight and KOing everybody. Trinidad wasn't a skilled boxer, i give you that. But the guy was a devastating fighter who was KOing everybody before he fought Hopkins.

Yeah, Joe C has his reign at SMW but come on, that's such a weak division.

I'd favour Calzaghe over Hopkins, but it would not be an easy time for Calzaghe.

It would be shock me in slightest if Hopkins pulled out a close decision.

    I'd say definetely not.

    Agreed.

I'm certainly not a Calzaghe fanboy or anything, but I can see how skilled and dangerous the man is. Much more skilled than Tito ever was IMO. This fight is a very tough assignment for Hopkins and if he can pull off a victory, it would catapult him to legend status.

CHJ had a great qoute several months back -

' You can't get any credit for putting on a great display of boxing skill and totally outclassing a 1 dimensional opponent unless the 1 dimensional opponent is Mr. Felix Trinidad'.

So a win over a guy who is not better in the divison. Who is oen dimensional and not skilled and does not have a great chin. Is a better win that a fighter than a multitalented multidimensional fighter who is better in the divison?

Also I could list Joe Calzaghe's compititon and show you all the good fighters former World Champions and the like he has beaten. But you can go look it up yourself.
