I lean towards Kessler here. I think that he punches straighter and harder and Calzage may show his age here. Calzage will probably use his hand speed and outwork Kessler early on but slow down as the fight wears on and he gets hit more. Kessler by close decision IMO. though I would not be surprised if Calzage was able to keep up the early workrate that I refered to earlier and get the decision. I don't really imagine a KO here though.

I've been rewatching Calzaghe fights and Kessler fights the past few days to help build the anticipation for the fight. I've noticed that Joe follows you when you go backwards to avoid punches, also that he jumps in and hits, clinches and hits and then hits on the break as well. Kessler likes to go backwards a lot and I wonder how he'll react to the infighting aspect of Joe's game. If Joe's punches really are slaps like everyone seems to say then he shouldn't be bothered, but I think there is more force there than people give credit for.

I also think there is a chance that the occasion might get to Kessler just a bit. There was talk of him being nervous for the Andrade fight because of the added pressure that is coming along with his fame. Ok fair enough, he didn't let the pressure get to him during the fight but, in Calzaghe's backyard with everyone screaming for Joe and booing Kessler, will it effect him?

I think Kesslers punches are really solid and if he can catch Joe repeatedly with the right hand then he is going to hurt him. The thin about Calzaghe is, and I've seen this time and time again in the fights I've been watching, if you catch him, and it hurts him, he gets angry and comes back at you straight away really forcefully.

The key for Kessle I think is to land meaningful shots and keep scoring with the jab.

To be honest though I think that Joe is very crafty and very adaptable. I think joe will win a points decision.

I don't think it will be controversial or a "Lacy"

I think his workrate will pull him through and he'll beat Kessler by 2 or 3 rounds

Admittedly I haven't seen as many Calzaghe and Kessler fights as I'd like but here goes.....

Kessler's a workhorse with a strong offense and defense but I just don't see him landing with enough power to hurt or KO Calzaghe. Calzaghe's has the faster handspeed but not as good of defense. Likewise I don't see him penetrating Kessler's defense enough to score the KO either. The way I see it, Calzaghe's speed will win him the first few rounds but the later rounds as the pace slows down will remain fairly evenly split between the two.

    Calzaghe Wins a unanimous decision.

Calzaghe will win by decision, and his greatest fans will say he's on SRL's level.

Joe is more talented. He has a styles advantage also.

However he is getting old and should already be retired. He is the best there has ever been, he has nothing to prove. The upcoming loss means nothing.

    I think it's a toss-up. I don't think either fighter has a clear advantage.

If pressed to pick a winner, I'd probably go with Kessler because he's younger and I prefer his punching technique to Calzaghe's.

I think a Calzaghe decision is most likely.

Kessler could suprise me though and land flush, substantial punches. To do that though, he will have to demonstate better footwork than in previous fights to keep himself at a comfortable punching-range. His jab (which is nice) will really need to manifest itself as well. He just needs to keep Calzaghe on the end of his punches to not be swarmed and slapped.
