I'm going with calzaghe. I think he has too many tools for Kessler :think. Calzaghe UD 12.

A really difficult fight to predict, it would seem that Calzaghe's swarming style would open him up to Kessler's counter jab/straight right, though saying that if Calzaghe can land enough and keep Kessler off balance then Mikkel will have to move a lot more and try to slow joe down to the body. I like Kessler's footwork and I think he's capable of doing this if need be. It's really going to come down to how many power shots Joe can land and make Kessler respect him enough to stay on the outside, he he can't I can see Mikkel knocking him out in the late rounds, which is my pick for the fight,
Kessler TKO11. I hope it turns out to be the FOTY candidate it promises to be.

I'm going for Calzaghe by close UD or premature (controversial) stoppage.

His 3 KO ever, and his first in over 10 years, you mean TKO right?

we all know what a great fighter joe is cause we seen him when he has been pressured, but what we really dont know is how great kessler is when pressured and he got his back against the ropes! so i cant really pick a winner , but if given no choice i go for kessler.

In matches like these, I always go by footwork more than anything. So this fight boils down to can JC's leg keep a pace that allows his faster hands to pop MK w/o getting hit in return? If it's the same JC that's showed up for the last 2 fights, I say no. If it's the JC that showed up vs. Lacy, then yes.

Way too many. This fight will be more one-sided than people think. Not as one-sided as the Lacy fight, but not particularly close, either.

    Calzaghe UD

Zak...you are often right - but not this time. No way Joe will be able to make the fight one-sided. :bbb

I think you're grossly overrating Calzaghe here, Zakman.

I've never viewed him as anything special. He never really beat a top-notch fighter. To be fair, there weren't any top fighters in the 168 pound waste land, which begs the question--why was he so content staying there?

Anyway, how would you rate their chinny-chin-chins?

    Agreed!

I'm not saying Joe won't win, for I think it's a pick'em fight, but I hardly believe we'll see anything one-sided, barring the unlikely event of an early KO.

It will be competitive while it lasts, and I suspect it will probably go the distance.

It has just occurred to me, this thread is effectively directed at Americans, who have barely seen anything of either fighter.

Nice thread here HolgerD. I't looks to be close.

I'm a MK man. But honest I just want the f..... fight so we
get a king at SMW - let the best man win.
This fight should also be a good example for other weight classes - we the fans - just want the best to meet the bests. Then boxing is as good as we get it.

That's what we get at nov. 3.
(and hopefuly MK will beat the h... out of JC ;-) )

And I would say that you are underrating Calzaghe, and perhaps overrating Kessler. Don't get me wrong, he's a good fighter, but not on Calzaghe's level. I think Calzaghe is one of the top fighters of the sport - and his superior ability has been somewhat obscured by his fighting in England most of the time. If the Lacy fight gave fans some indication of how good this guy is, this fight will be the one that proves it beyond all doubt.

And, both fighters, as far as I can see, have solid chins - with perhaps a slight advantage to Kessler, but not enough to make much of a difference, imo.
