    :think

Calzaghe says he didn't underperform against Hopkins. It was just a very tough fight.

I think, this is why the RJJ fight is so meaningful - it will be another tough fight!

Calzaghe: “I am going to prepare for the best Roy Jones Jr, and he is going to prepare to fight the best Joe Calzaghe.

“This fight is going to be tremendous. It is going to be the fight of the year.”

Well at least he admits he was fighting bums during his long title reign.

I've been saying ever since that Calzaghe didn't have an off night against Bernard, that it was a great performance. Of course, his fans have been insisting otherwise ever since. Glad Joe cleared this one up.

At least there were no excuses about the Hopkins fight, but I didn't think he looked too good that night.

Nobody except prime Roy Jones has ever looked good against post-green Bernard Hopkins.

It's obvious Calzaghe didn't have an "off night" or whatever has been said. Of course Joe has said stuff like that as well, so this is a contradiction. That is the best Joe Calzaghe can do against a technician and craftsman of Bernard Hopkins caliber. Bunce called it "a master class." Calzaghe makes all sorts of mistakes from a logistical standpoint, but he's a relentless competitor. Joe Calzaghe pushes himself well beyond his limits on a regular basis, there are very few athletes who can say that, period. He's the Pete Rose of boxing. Joey Hustle.

How do you think Pavlik is going to against Hopkins?

If he was at his best during the hopkins fight...that's just pretty damn sad.

A clear win (to a person with eyes in their head) after being careless in the first round and getting put on his arse, against a Hopkins who was trying to spoil like no tomorrow, definitely a solid performance. Hops did an awesome job imo, insane when you think about his age.

I'd probably rate the Kessler performance slightly higher though.

Joe better be careful making comments like that though, soon we might realise Pavlik is well and truly worthy of fighting Joe and we will not have any excuses left. :bbb
