bull**** did b-hop not try to win he employed the best strategy he could and the most effective one he could at his age and for the calibre of his opponent. Anyone would be foolish to go in there and try and punch with calzaghe because he'll tire you you've got to tie him up to lower his output and break his rhythm.

No ****, what fight was he watching? Calzaghe put on a terible display, never "knoked the ****" out of anything other than the canvas with the back of his head.

it was the shallowest win possible...he couldnt outbox hopkins he got the decision for outworking and activity he gave people the illusion he was doing more just because he was throwing but there was no quality whatsoever to his work and i thought he lost...heck i think even he and enzo had thought he'd lost when you see their faces after the fight

he is an honest feller.remember it was his first fight at lhw and he went in against the no.1 in the division, thata takes guts because he was untested against a bigger fighter.i know it wasnt the most entertaining fight but nobody looks good against b-hop.
i think this fight with jones will be tougher than everyone is giving him credit for and i honestly think pavlik would have been the easier fight for joe to take.

I question the context accuracy of this quote.

I've heard Joe say something totally different in many interviews.

That was a **** poor fight against Hopkins. The only reason Calzaghe won is because Hopkins couldnt keep up enough workrate to win rounds. Calzaghe missed alot and threw his usual arm slaps. When Hopkins let his hands go he was schooling Calzaghe. He is 43 years old and cant fight like he could 8 years ago. If Calzaghe and Hopkins would have fought around 1999 Hopkins wins a wide UD.

Either it's a typo, or Joe is contradicting himself again.

You forget, Calzaghe would be a lot younger also, and instead of an extended beating from Joe, as per the last fight, B-hop would be hip hoppin his way to the ER as Calzaghe would have torn him to shreds if he applied different tactics.

It's not hard to work out, when the punches landed count is heavily in favour of Joe, and Hopkins was puffing and panting, and rocked all over the shop, barely able to land a punch after his lucky 1st round shot, it tells you Hopkins was outclassed and basically thumped, as the History books show.

Now we all saw why Hopkins pulled out of an earlier fight at the last moment, and why Jones and Toney also ducked a prime Joe. Imagine if Joe's hands weren't wrecked!!

I don't think I would have said that if I were Joe.

Quite a change from other Joe quotes.

"He's so awkward. He gave me some good shots. It wasn't my best night, but I won the fight. The world title in a second division and a win in America is just icing on the cake for my career."

“I made a mistake,’’ Calzaghe said. “I knew he had a good right hand. It was a bit of a shaky start. I was disappointed by my performance. I was in great shape but I didn’t feel 100 per cent. I ain’t a robot.

The more I think about it, the more I think it must be a misquote. It's very easy to misinterpret what a guy like Calzaghe mumbles in a crowded room, if you're American...

    I think it's a typo.
