Sorry, but I disagree completely. Two exhibition bouts in 2 years is too much to ignore. They are extremely mitigating circumstances. That does impact upon the quality of the win, most definitely.
45-0 if it was that easy many more would be doing it, at least admire the consistancy because every fighter has an off night
15 years, its really incredible he has achieved such longevity and he's undefeated. I think we can safely say he probably averages out at 1 good win per year, at least. 15 great wins, not bad at all.
lets make it 16,so we can put pavlik to bed like we did lacy hey joe! footnote:this post is not intended to rile up certain factions of the anti-welsh/american factions of ESB nor is a salute to the JC groupies, its just once he retires who will most people focus there frustrations on ?lol. clinton woods?
I am one of the sceptics regarding both to be honest. A zero means little to me without knowing the quality of the resume. And in defence of Marciano, Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore are ATGs, and Jersey Joe Walcott was a very fine heavyweight. He does not deserve to be in your little list.
It does impact on the quality of the win - it becomes a good win instead of a great win. It cannot be discounted completely. If Joe was a seasoned champ at that point I would agree with you but Calzaghe was completely untested.
There is only one (arguably two) better. That being said, resume wise no one is on a par with Calzaghe :happy
She'll tell you that Glen Johnson was an OUTSTANDING unbeaten middleweight when Hopkins beat him though. But Eubank, he was shot. But the fact Calzaghe was green has little bearing, quite obviously. :nut
Start thinking then, ten more. Come on. And if you think Robin ****ing Reid or Chris "rustier than the Titanic" Eubank or that impotent performance v Hopkins were "great", then you should maybe re-think your definition of the word "great".
Woodhall Sheika Mitchell Bika Veit 1 These were all good wins also, on a par with many of Hopkins wins who of course gets alot of man love in the General forum.
