Fine post. Btw mate, of course I rate Ali, I regard his resume as the finest in HW history. However, I just wanted to demonstrate that you can attack anyones resume even one as fine as Ali's.

PACFAN immediatley seized upon the post as if I meant it literally to try and score points :rofl

Then when he realised he looked stupid, he came out with the crap he gave to you...as though it was a moral issue and that his angry reaction was because we should all rever Ali unequivocally :yep

    Basically, this chaps a fanny.

For someone who would appear to have such good taste in music, you really let yourself down with your infantile refusal to accept your own errors. Your point about Ali was garbage and deserved to be called so, it's not my fault you arsed up your own point.

No contradiction at all, you are simply making your usual error of leaping in to defend your Joe's honour without giving due consideration to the criticisms I make. As I have said a million or so times before, I rate Joe very highly in terms of talent and ability, but for me his resume relegates him to an all-time pound-for-pound placing lower than his ability deserves. Instead of being a pitiful child and calling people 'haters', type "PACFAN84: The Calzaghe Hater" into the search engine and read the most comprehensive written account of my thoughts on Joe.

If only you would think before you type, these petty arguments wouldn't be necessary. Yawn. :hi:

You still don't understand a point so simple an infant would have got it immediately. Yes, you can "attack" anyone's resume, even Ali's, but the attack (like yours was) was ridiculous and pathetic - it was an attack but it was spectacularly unsuccessful in actually discrediting his resume in any way, because it is a great great resume. Joe Calzaghe's resume can be severely criticized (not 'attacked', but can be subjected to objective criticism) because it is not a great resume. Get it now? Didn't think so.

If I am a 'fanny', then God help you, you poor brainless sod.

it was rather a large response by my usual standards...

firstly why are you even comparing the two fighters?that whole argument is rather unoriginal and your clearly reaching (on both sides )now ,so instead of bringing up one of the greatest fighters ever to somehow demean calzaghes achievements( which is an extremely crass thing to do),just agree to disagree and move on!

you contradict yourself in your post by saying "you dont demean JC's achievements and he has had many good wins" followed by once again stating he has a feeble resume and only 2 good wins(again your opinion)!

why should we measure his achievements by american standards,it is extremely arrogant and pompous to say f... joe he never fought anyone in america ,while those fighters themselves refuse to travel and boxed mainly fellow countrymen!fact is hes considered just another euro hype job by people who know nothing of the fighter he is and was,and who only took notice following the lacy debacle, much is made of jones is past his prime etc joe is past his too!

i agree his resume could be better, which can be said of most too,but to simply dismiss him on the basis of he never "fought my boys" which he is doing now(albeit a little late)is doing an injustice not only to a great SMW but to boxers worldwide.

Check back on this thread - it was not me who brought up Muhammad Ali. Direct your criticisms at Beatboxer, as it was him who did. I look forward to reading that.

Calzaghe had many good wins, but in my opinion only 2 very good ones. I don't see how this still confuses you.

And the rest of your post I'm not responding to, as all that tired old nationalism bollocks means nothing to me whatsoever, I am from the UK, and my favourite fighters are from the Philippines, Panama and Nicaragua. Nationality is completely unimportant to me, nor do I view it as a valid point of discussion in rating Joe Calzaghe, as the American magazine The Ring had him at #2 p4p recently, and they currently only have 2 Americans in their top 10 p4p, so I just don't buy that at all.

Whatever. I've said my piece and the point was made in the end. Good for you for finally getting that.

I will concede that perhaps I could have used someone a little easier....say RJJ whose resume has been subject to criticism. Or else Hopkins whom you hold so dear...both are greats in their own right but it wouldn't take me long to discredit many of the opponents on their resume off hand or else discount their best performances due to the calibre of the opposition...and it wouldn't be a ridiculously tough assignment ala Ali.

I notice you ducked the part about rating Calzaghe so highly among great British fighters in spite of the fact that you don't hold his resume in high regard at all. Probably for the best as you will tie yourself up in knots as usual.

Also, I love how you have to punctuate each ahh 'point' you make with a childish insult at the end of each post. And you wonder why people think you're nothing more than a pure hater, rather than a boxing fan that holds Calzaghe to account for his percieved poor choice of opponent.

What you do to Calzaghe is attack: you do not critique. Beyond a line of he has 'two good wins' you do a whole host of his other opponents a great diservice in this regard.

Anyway, I'm off to watch the football. :hi:

    Cheers.

Motherwell and Nancy, maybe not the most attractive match to a pure neutral but my friend is at the game tonight and they are one of only two Scottish teams left in Europe...

    Anyways for now :hi:

Running for the hills??? :think Of course not.

Your point on Ali was manure, all you proved was that a great resume cannot be discredited despite absolutely woeful attempts to do so (while weak resumes can indeed be severely criticized). But that has already been established anyway, drummed into you in fact!

I didn't duck it, nor will I tie myself in anything. I determine my own pound-for-pound standings on a combination of ability and resume. I don't understand how you couldn't have worked this out without me explaining it for you. Joe scores highly on ability, not highly on resume. I am very happy with my placing of him in the pantheon of British fighters.

It is not 'hate' to say he has had only two quality wins. To label it 'hate' is typical of the puerile nonsense spouted by the fanboy children of this forum, which sadly you appear to be one of.

Please, grow up before next time, and maybe then you'll have better luck. :smoke
