Joe Calzaghe is a clear favorite to defeat Bernard Hopkins when they collide Saturday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Calzaghe is currently a -260 pick at the host casino Planet Hollywood, while Hopkins backers can get +220. On over/under prop (11.5 rounds), the "over" is -280, the "under" is +240. Round props range from 60/1 to 75/1.
Hopkins recently made an effort to clarify what he meant when he told Calzaghe he would 'never let a white boy beat me.' "You can’t define what I said. It ain’t a shame to lose to a white man, but it ain’t supposed to happen from where I come from," stated Hopkins, who later added "I invite any kind of competition and I don't care if they are blue, green, white or pink." Calzaghe, however, isn't buying it, proclaiming that he is going to finish Hopkins "and his foul mouth. He's going to be notch number 45 on my belt. I am going to turn off that idiot's spigot. He can justify and spin what he said anyway he wants, but it's recorded for posterity on Youtube.

There's an intriguing clash of styles on the clothing front. Calzaghe has taken to dressing like an old man: lots of tank tops, cardigans, greys and wools. Hopkins is dressing like he's in his early 20's. That denim jacket belongs on someone two decades younger than him. The two styles couldn't get more similar, but who wins, head to head?

My pick is Calzaghe by close decision, but -260 is way too much.

I'd make Joe less than a 2-1 favorite.
