In an interview with the Telegraph,Joe said there were some decisions he got he shouldnt have got.'It doesnt matter anymore, the important thing is I was undefeated.'He also metioned he wont be coming back to boxing because his boy was crying and vomiting (like Ricky Hatton's girlfriend when he got knocked out by Floyd Mayweather) when Jones knocked him down. He's also said he was struggling with training (which explains why he couldnt make weight in his last fight with Jones)

Has to be. He even had a look before the decision was made of uncertainty.

Not only did he have issues with training, the hand injury has gone too far at this stage and this is an injury he had ALL his career. His hands weren't 100% for his last few fights and not close but he had to push through it which explains why he didn't commit to power punching much. In his earlier days you can easily see he had more power, hell he was the one to rock Lacy(who had a granite chin) in the very FIRST round when everyone(including myself) thought Joe would be knocked out in the first round..

He's better off out of it, glad to know he's not mentioning any issues with money and is living well. Best of luck and I HOPE he doesn't return, too old for it and too vulnerable, if he doesn't NEED to then there's no reason to come, he's already accomplished regardless of the criticism I and others have towards him and his career. His naturally ability can't be denied.

is there a link to this. the only time i ever heard joe say anything bat about his training is that he knew retirement was close because he was finding it hard to get motivated for training. he never really had any weight issues and fitness was always extremely high

Calzaghe, in my opinion, never needed a gift decision, he won all his fights fairly in my opinion.

Warren had some good offers for him, some of you guys need to check out "No Average Joe", and that was when he was with Warren with ZERO rumors/hints he would leave him. Warren got him excellent offers in and out of the ring, Calzaghe never wanted most of them due to personal demands.

Warren isn't a terrible promoter, yeah he might be a thief or whatever junk people will say, that's how ALL promoters are. He's doing a great job with Khan and the Prescott fight was recommended and accepted by his own team when Warren mentioned it and it was also a fight Khan HAD to pass at that stage. Look how he's slowly putting Khan back on the map.

It's common knowledge that Calzaghe didn't think he deserved to win the Hopkins fight. He may also have been talking about the Robin Reid fight.

Really? The first I've heard of this although I vividly remember Enzo telling him he needed a knockout just before he sent Joe out for the final round.

Sure I can. Warren got him different offers out of the ring like advertisement stuff, a noticeable one is the Marks and Spencer ad which Calzaghe turned down because it included wearing underwear or whatever, Beckham style. I can understand why Calzaghe turned it down and this is just one example out of many mentioned.

In ring ones are possible fights with Hopkins and Jones Jr. Hopkins case was more because of Hopkins' demand and I can't blame Hopkins for it. After all, Hopkins was moving up and was the undisputed middleweight champion beating champions to unify(except for the IBF)., Joe had zero intentions to unify and held on to his WBO title and only that. Even the Lacy and Kessler fights were offered before and all had their complications, Calzaghe wanted those guys to travel to him despite being champions holding better titles than his WBO. The RJJ case is popular, it was turned down because Calzaghe admitted it was too much risk for little money, Calzaghe also wanted Jones, who was far more popular than he could DREAM of being at that point, to travel to him.

There are question marks, like most fighter's careers, he's not different and shouldn't be **** on for it. Many guys do that to secure good money and possibly easier options, why wouldn't they?, everyone would and still do. It's a business as it's a sport so this ISN'T a "bash" comment.
