He's talking about 'career' decisions you banana. For instance not taking tougher fights earlier in his career and not going to the USA.
Exactly, Calzaghe was at least throwing punches, Hopkins was clinching, grabbing and faking low blows. I had 114-113 for Calzaghe.
there is no way the JC thought he lost to hopkins,he was concerned that he woudlnt get the decision as he was fighting away from home,....fact is jc landed more than bhop and landed more on him than any other fighter ever did and that includes a peak RJJ at middleweight!
Even Reid said that he thought he'd lost the fight in the post-fight interview, so very much doubt that Calzaghe would disagree.
Two points: 1.The Lacy fight showed Calzaghe had power?? :huh He landed three hundred thousand clean shots to Lacy's face, and couldn't knock him out. I don't think I've ever seen a fight where one guy was so easy to hit cleanly, anyone with good (not even great) power would have got a brutal accummulation stoppage in that fight. That was one fight that convinced me Joe did not have knockout power at all, his punches just did not have the snap/venom/weight behind them to end that fight even with his opponent utterly helpless. For me that is proof of a lack of power in any fighter. Even guys who weren't one-shot KO punchers but still had some power were able to end fights on accumulation, not just swarm them with pitty-pats until the final bell. 2.You thought Lacy was going to knock Calzaghe out in the first round? atsch To be honest, that shows that you didn't have your finger on the pulse of the sport. There's no other explanation. Before Lacy and Calzaghe met, Calzaghe had completely dominated and stopped Omar Sheika in one of his very best performances. Lacy had went life and death with Sheika, and many thought Sheika should have got the decision. It should have been clear as day all along that Lacy was a mediocre boxer with one good punch, and that Calzaghe was a very good, proven champion.
Reid very much won the 'fight' in a more literal sense. Calzaghe won the boxing match though, due to the points system, even with a hand injury.
I scored the Calzaghe-Reid fight for Calzaghe. I think people exaggerate how close it was a little purely because it was the first really close decision of Joe's career, and the only one other than Hopkins from his whole career. Calzaghe beat Reid by a couple of points IMO. A good domestic dust-up as I recall.
True, I am not sure why people have read it that way. I guess the theme of this thread is "how to read something the wrong way to make it mean the opposite of what it actually means" BTW I notice that the OP Chibuku hasn't been back since he got shown to be an idiot. What a cheap turd he is.
What a waste of my time to come to this thread when it's based on an obvious misunderstanding. Thanks for that.
Only thing about Joes career is he should have fought some elite fighters in his prime not in his 30s- also some of the stoppages were disgaceful but thats not really his fault.
