It's amazing how cocky you can be when Calzaghe has only beaten overhyped European WBO contenders and some cab drivers...
This works both ways mate.A lot of us Europeans think many Americans are overhyped and overrated. For every mayweather and RJJ,theres a Grant and Lacey, who fuk it up even with HBO or showtime propping them up.
Not pig ignorant, fact. Between 1997 (Eubank) and 2006 (Lacy), Calzaghe was defending his bull**** WBO title against nothing more than European "contenders". He fought not a single "undisputed" or anything near "legitimate" champion. He didn't attempt to unify for 9 years, until he built up his so-called title defenses. The WBO HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE #4 BELT in the world, and Calzaghe knew that. Erik Morales, MAB, PBF, DLH, Trinidad, and every champion of this era went for REAL TITLES against REAL CHAMPIONS. Calzaghe did not. Who's ignorant? Look in the mirror.
It doesnt matter if it was the KFC belt, its the fighter that matters, not the belt. Theyre all corrupt anyway, but Joe was THE BEST. This idea that some ignorant Americans like yourself have that a fighter is automatically inferior because he was born in Europe is absurd and dated. Most of the smart Americans themselves on here distance themselves from that nonsense.
Well, Eubank was his first really "well known" fight against a well-known fighter. Lacy was the second, and Lacy was an overhyped bum. You can't name any real champions on his record...Robin Reid? That's as good as you can do. WBO doesn't count. Not unifying for 9 years doesn't count. What counts is Calzaghe hid in obscurity, virtually unknown outside of his own backyard, and fought easy competition.
Yea just like how he beat the hell out of OVER-HYPED American Lacy, Calzaghe has beaten 10 or 11 former World Champions, Eubank, Brewer, Lacy, Kesseler, ETC I COULD GO ON :deal I wanna see what all of the Calzaghe haters have to say Sat night when he gives the OLD-FART an ass-whuppin:yep
To be the best, you BEAT the best. Joe fought Eubank, Reid, Brewer, and all kinds of unknown "Eurochamps" who were never more than fringe contenders.
