Sorry, but America isn't the Mecca of boxing, its the biggest market but it doesn't have the kind of attraction and pull for fighters that it did when boxing was a mainstream sport in the US. The simple truth is that there is no Mecca of boxing anywhere at the moment. There is the US scene, the German scene, the UK scene and a few much smaller ones here and there. I think the word is "disparate".
There is no Mecca??? US is not the Mecca?? So why did Hatton come the states? So why did Hamed come to the states? So why did Joe C come to the states?
Compare the General forum to the British forum within any boxing site & it gives you a clear idea of who's dumber & more ignorant.
For money fights against Americans... Americans cant travel for some reason they need home advantage, makes them feel all warm inside.:yep Seriously though, **** thread.
Alright, you do have a point there and I may be wrong. Although, I would point out that Muslims don't make pilgrimage to Mecca for the $$. And the US certainly doesn't have the kind of pull it used to for fighters because they can carve out a pretty decent career and living for themselves on the UK or German markets, or the "Euro market" if you like. Germany is probablly the only major country where boxing is a mainstream sport on primetime TV - not sure the US can offer that kind of exposure anymore. Calzaghe only came to the US towards the end of his career for big pay days.
Get out of here with that nonsense. What about Hatton, Kessler, Haye, and Khan? All are overhyped Euros. You act like Euros are dead right on all of their fighters. And Dawson is hardly a limited fighter. You are truly ignorant if you believe that.
Americans need home advantage? Like all the tactics that Hatton gets away with his hometowns refs. Like all the hugging and BLATANT low-blow say in the Kostya Tszyu fight. That's why Germany is known as the place where you have to knock the hometown (Euro) fighter out to get a draw. Or maybe like the premature stoppage in that garbage JC vs Manfredo fight. Yeah the US needs the home advantage. Seriously though, shitty poster.
