I was just reading a post and noticed that some people think that Calzaghe was not the undisputed champion at 168. He held the WBO and IBF belt. Then he was striped of the IBF bert. HE went on to fight Kessler and unified the WBO, WBC, and WBA belts. HE cleaned out the division. How is it that Haye was the undisputed Champ when he unified the WBC, WBO, and WBA belt? Plus Haye did not fight the undefeated Cunningham for the IBF belt. Also he never defended all the belts once he got them.

its because there is one hell of alot of calzaghe haters on these threads, who dont give the guy anywhere near the amount of credit he deserves. Apparently to these people Calzaghe ducked everybody and is also scared of everybody too!!
As for haye my guesse is that the calzaghe haters have there time too filled with slating calzaghe that they cant slate haye yet, it'll probably be coming somewhere in the future!

Excellent point. Haye has no claim to being the undisputed champ. It's a pure fantasy. Haye has been going around lying and claiming the he accomplished something that he never did. His fans, of course, fall in line with this fairy tale.

Calzaghe, on the other hand, has a better claim to undisputed status. He wasn't stripped like you said. He vacated his title. The only reason I question his undisputed status is because he gave up his belt in order to pursue a fight with the undeserving Peter Manfredo. None the less, I won't argue with anyone who claims he was the undisputed SMW champ.

Sorry, but American heads aren't turning to watch Calzaghe fight Peter Manfredo in the middle of the afternoon. Regardless, I don't have much of a problem with him being considered undisputed. Haye's bogus claim is what really bothers me.

Nobody gives a **** about Manfredo. The gimmick didn't attract many American viewers and his fight with Kessler did crap numbers on HBO. Forget Calzaghe for a moment. Let's focus on the real problem; David Haye trying to take credit for something he never did. At least Calzaghe defeated all the belt holders.

I have a problem with Hayes claim also. Cunningham was the undefeated IBF champion and Haye did not fight him.

O'Neill Bell won the IBF belt in the ring, then was stripped for rematching Mormeck. Wlodarczyk and Cunningham fought for the vacant belt (Cunningham beat him in the rematch), but Bell lost to Mormeck, who lost to Haye. As far as lineage of the belts is concerned, Haye is undisputed, and Cunningham is a paper title holder. But technically you're correct.

That's incorrect. Bell was supposed to fight Cunningham and refused. He was stipped 4 months after winning the title, and didn't Mormeck for another 7 months or so. So it's not like he had a choice between Mormeck and Cunningham, chose Mormeck, and then was stripped. He refused to fight his mando, was stripped, and then didn't fight again for months. By all rights, Cunningham could've been undisputed had Bell fought him like he was supposed to.

I think the people at HBO will know more about the american public than some bum called Big Reg from da internetz. The audacity to suggest that Joe ever considered or has claimed Manfredo to be a true contender is astounding

Then how come the ratings for that fght were ****? How the ratings for the Kessler fight were **** as well? Maybe they should fire whoever is running things over there seeing as how some bum knows more than they do.

Tell me when the hell I ever suggested this?
