You Calzaghe guys are on ****ing crack. Lets look at the facts. Roy Jones 11/03 Looks mediocre in a win against Tarver 05/04 Gets KTFO against Tarver 09/04 Gets KTFO against Johnson 10/05 Looks flat out BAD against Tarver in a loss He then reels off two wins against no hopers and looks mediocre in beating an over the hill Trinidad coming back from a 2 year lay off and fighting AT LEAST 15 pounds above his best weight class and more than likely closer to 21 pounds over. THREE YEARS after it was readily apparent that Jones was shot, Calzaghe 03/06 brutalized Jeff Lacy 10/06 got a UF over Sakio Bika 04/07 got a TKO against Peter Mangredo Jr 11/03 got a clear UD against Kessler 04/19 beat Bernard Hopkins as you can see, the rate of decline is obviously similar.... No one is saying Calzaghe is prime, what most people are saying is that he's not even remotely near the state of decline Jones is in.
i say again as people are clearly drunk: lets put this in simple terms for the simple of mind and the jones groupies.. you use the 2 years age difference to denegrate calzaghe,do you not grasp how absurd that excuse really is,thats like getting in a pub brawl with someone 2 years younger and him whipping your arse only for you to retort with well when i was 27 and you 25 i would'a whopped ya!! its pathetic, what you cannot grasp is the fact that joe has aged better which ultimately makes him the better athlete/boxer right? he man handled jones to an exstent of which i nearly had a tear in my eye for the great american, but this wasnt a young buck knocking out the old guard, they are both old and credit must be given to calzaghe like it or not! i have no doubt had this fight happened at any time throughout there careers joe would have been right in there,im sorry if this hurts but the whole prime thing is intangible nonsense, jones was in great shape and coming off a domination of trinidad, yes hes old but the fight happened and proved one thing to me,this fight would never have been a jones domination at any time. ultimately jones was humbled and showed what a class act he is,i will never forget the memories he has given us,but hes not superhuman, never was.
Age has nothing to do with it. Tyson was younger than Lewis, but Mike was shot to bits and Lennox was not. As a result Lennox gets little credit for the win, deseredly so.
no,like joe he is ageing and declining, like joe he is old in boxing terms and like joe he is past his prime. its that simple. and to quote a fellow poster: "The most annoying thing are those pathetic dolts who can't get over the fact that Calzaghe beats everyone he fights, young or old, and seem to ignore the fact that Calzaghe is going on 37 himself".
Ok, if 10 means shot to pieces and 1 means near prime, how would you rate Calzaghe and Jones RIGHT NOW? Answer truthfully. Oh, and it is getting annoying that I ALWAYS have to remind you to CLEAR UP SOME FRIGGIN PM SPACE YOU LIMEY!!!
Phew... I would say Calzaghe about 7,5 and Roy about 4,5, so I think we're on the same page on this one. :good
