Grow some balls and offer Haye a fight at Cruiserweight. That fight would have been HUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE in the UK.
Never stepped up??? Didn't beat Jorge Castro??? Didn't beat Hopkins??? DIdn't beat James Toney??? Virgil Hill??? Sugar Boy Malinga??? Thomas Tate?? Eric Lucas??? Mike McCallum?? Montell Griffin??? Reggie Johnson(two division world champion wins over Steve Collins, Lamar Clark and William Guthrie), Eric Harding, John Ruiz, Beat Tarver the first time.......... Clown!
your repeat yourself over and over with the same old bul****,the boy is so bigoted and biased its almost humorous anyone who credits this tit with any merit renders themselves an imbecile in my eyes,he spews more bile than my miss'is come full moon..... who needs pacfan when you have boxrec or wikipedia? i refuse to read his entire threads we have the aforementioned(for that purpose)and lives to lead also,i just dont have the stamina. lol.
thats what happens when you fight legends in there 40's.if you win its a so what the fighter was old, shot, passed his prime.if you lose then you are washed up your shot.it is what it is.i just hope jones can shake up the world so i can see the rematch between jones and hopkins :bbb
In one breath you call me opinionated to the point of biased, in another you say I am an encyclopedia. Which is it? Could it be that I combine facts and opinion, evidence and explanation?? You keep running down my threads mate, if it makes you feel better, because this thread has been an epic FAIL on your part.
il stick to wikipedia it is the font of wisdom! hey pac I like you. You remind me of when I was young and stupid.
Exactly as you put it mate. I WILL give him little credit. I give Calzaghe much credit for the Kessler win and of course for the Hopkins win. Those two were big wins that proved a point and possibly they are the best wins in Joe's resume. Much respect for that. But no matter how you look at it, Jones is way past it mate. He doesn't resemble the Roy Jones of 2002 or 2003. He's 3-3 since his win over Tarver and even in his wins, he hasn't looked exactly great. In the Tito fight I saw just some glimpses of the good ol' Roy (that's why I hope there is something left in the tank), but even that, he managed to do against a man who fought almost 15 pounds more than he did in his previous 3 or 4 fights, and had been inactive for almost 3 years before the bout. So yes, based on logic, Calzaghe should win this on points with relative ease, as he is still at a pretty good level (as his last two fights showed). Roy will be a big name in Joe's resume, but I won't give him more credit than he deserves for beating that version of Roy Jones. I root for Jones, but that is just on hope alone, that he can somehow pull some magic out of the bag. Of course I will be ultra-happy if he does, I just don't see it happening though.
So, HAttons win over JLCastillo in 08 was as note worthy as 4 years ago? gotcha... Or (hate to keep using the UK heroes... ) Hatton's win over kostya tszyu was as remarkable then as when Kostya first hit the pound for pound charts? I just don't think so!! If this were true then Jorge Fernando Castro should be hailed as a possible all time great because he beat Roberto Duran in '99 in a much more decisive fashion than Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler-
I know, I love it! Watching him blunder around threads with his thesaurus and his dire lack of boxing knowledge really is a treat on this otherwise sordid forum.
bottom line. calzaghe never wanted to fight a "prime" jones - or hopkins. stop looking for excuses why this fight should count now. sure, being in your prime is a relative abstract, but hopkins and jones at a combined age of 84 -ish and on a downward trend are not the fighters they once were - which is why joe wants to fight them now.
