Haven't been around for ages so im a little behind on the discussions. 1. Out of all of Calzaghes opponents, who resembled Kessler the most (stylewise)? And how did Calzaghe beat them? 2. What do you think the best tactic is for beating Calzaghe? He has a very interesting style and it poses pretty interesting problems for his opponents. 3. Do you think that Kessler is a bit of an unknown quantity going into this fight? I've only really been following his career since Mundine fight, and he has always used the same style (coz it works). Never really seen him (or Calzaghe for that matter) in much trouble and in fact neither are used to losing so could be interesting to see one (or both) of them dig deep. Thanks to anyone who replies.
Some good answers there China_hand_Joe. It's generally accepted that this fight will reveal more about Kessler than Calzaghe. As you alluded to, Calzaghe's heart is tremendous once inside the ring - the problem has sometimes been getting him there. The Mitchell fight is probably my favourite Calzaghe fight for excitement because Joe was seriously in trouble. But the way he got up off the canvas was brilliant. If you've not seen this fight too cool, I suggest it's worth the effort of finding it somewhere on the internet.

Gosh, look at the replays. 90 percent of Calzaghe's punches lands with him using the inside of the gloves!!!!! I wonder why any referee have not EVER warned him about that. But then again all of these fights have been in UK with WBO in charge. And you don't touch the hometown fighter in those kind of setups. This will most likely be the biggest disadvantage for Mikkel Kessler. PS: Also I don't like to see Calzaghe hit the opponents neck when clinching. He does it all the time. Just like Nigel Benn did against Gerald McClelland. And that almost killed McClelland.
Kessler's only real chances lie in either Calzaghe's reflexes having significantly fading or Calzaghe breaking both his hands early in the fight
You can still slap like Calzaghe does with broken hands. So all in all, Kessler just have to keep the distance. If Calzaghe once again-again is allowed to throw these inside-of-the-glove punches, then Kessler should avoid being caught on the inside.
How compliant of your keyboard to allow you to type "fullstops" for the longer posts! Oh, I forgot! You copied and pasted them, right?:yep Good post BTW, CHJ!
Yes, I only had to copy and paste the fullstops, nothing else as I avoided the ened for paragraphing by answering within the quote box -fullstop- Usually I need to c&p paragraphing too -fullstop- However I did have to c&p the fullstops in the blue font, otherwise the writing kept switching back to white after each fullstop -fullstop-
So why don't you start copying and pasting the "." from now on then? It takes as much effort as copy-pasting the "-fullstop-" and certainly less than writing " -fullstop-":hey ...you will only have to type out the "-question mark-" and "-exclamation-" mark! ...Glad to see that your "-comma-" key works!:yep
I currently have a URL copied and I have become so adept now at typing "-fullstop-" it it the quickest was to go about things -fullstop-
That's a great picture of Joe in your avatar Decebal. Are you backing Joe now not Kessler -question mark-
I was always 50/50 on both, in terms of which one I would back, perhaps just slightly favouring Kessler, who seemed a nicer guy! Also, I thought Kessler would win; now I don't anymore. Now, I am more impressed with JC as a man (morally) too, which is very important to me. So on the whole, I will be supporting JC, yes -exclamation mark-
