Ali did it when he came back after the millitary issue. e came back to meet a dominant champion. This cemented his status.

SRL retired but came back a couple of times when the chance was there for greatness. If he had not decided to make a come back we would for example not have gotten the SRL-Hagler fight!

Calzaghe truly retired... but with the emergence of Ward as a quite dominant champion he has the chance to make a SRL!

Lennox Lewis is in the same situation. Wlad and Vitaly are dominant champions and would present LL with a mouth-watering opportunity for greatness.

They both have great careers already, just like Ali had before the comeback, and like SRL had before the Hagler fight and other great fights... but the kicker would be coming back and beating the reigning champion. And since they both actually retired they have a great opportunity.

Mayweather is also doing this, but in his case it is so fake it might as well be world wrestling federation... He never really retired.. he just had a break because he wanted to construct this myth that he had retired becaue he knows it helped past greats achieve greatness... I guess some advisor advised him to do it. And by the way... I do think the Pac fight will happen.. at least it was the intention to make the fight after a come back... so if it doesn't happen anyway.. then someone will be upset.

I don't think it will happen..
As far as i know, neither Calzaghe or Lewis has taken good care of themself since they retired...

Both are financially very sound, WAY out of their physical primes and assured in their legacys. No need for comebacks pal, it's time for a new generation.

I've never understood the whole calling for Lewis to return ****, it's not like he retired at an early age like Hamed. It's ridiculous people still entertain the fact at the age of 46 he could make a comeback.

Not gonna happen. Lennox Lewis has been retired for nearly a decade, and has never expressed any interest in returning to the ring. Nor should he. Calzaghe coming back is more realistic, but I doubt it. Both men sit fine right where they are in my opinion. Any attempts at further glory would be bad decisions by both.

Lewis is top 10 ATG @ heavy and Joe is Arguably #1 @ SMW (how much higher can you go?).

    however, I do consider LL>>Calslappy
