The BBC web site is running the headline "IBF Light-heavy weight champion Clinton Woods is negotiating to fight Joe Calzaghe." There's no attached story but a promise of "more soon."

This fight could give calzaghe a title and set up hopkins a a retirement fight. Less dangerous than Dawson and it's gonna get less US interest if it goes ahead.

After hearing PBF trumpet the "if it don't make dollars, it don't make sense" mantra ad nauseum, does it occur to anyone that an all-UK fight might do better than a Hopkins fight for Joe? I'm not really a fan of his, but it is possible this is partially a financial decision. It's not like Hopkins-Wright was a mega-fight.

Hopkins mentioned the yankee stadium as a venue, would it get filled? Don't know much about Hopkins fan base and i'm not sure you'd get as many Calzaghe fans crossing the atlantic as Hatton gets.

I know I'd come up from Philly. But I don't know anybody else who would

Honestly, the fight might not even sell out Boardwalk Hall, nevermind Yankee Stadium. I'm almost sure Hops-Tarver didn't sell out. And Tarver was, for a while, a way bigger name in the USA than Calzaghe ever has been.

    ...or Chad Dawson.

Woods should fight Glen Johnson instead (for the nth time:yep until a clear and dominating winner is established).
